Kapellbrücke Luzern, meine Heimat; Chapelbridge Lucerne, my Hometown
Die Kapellbrücke in Luzern ist die älteste Brücke Europas. Sie wurde um 1365 gebaut.
Der dazügehörige achteckige Wasserturm ist noch älter und wurde bereits um 1300 erbaut.
The Chapelbridge in Lucerne is the oldes wooden bridge of Europe. It was built around 1365.
The Water tower is older and was built around 1300.
Im Giebel der Brücke kann man 111 dreieckige Gemälde betrachten, welche wichtige Szenen der Schweizer Geschichte darstellen.
In the roof of the bridge are 111 Paintings which show importand scenes of Switzerland's history
Leider viel ein Grossteil davon in der Nacht des 18. August 1993 einem Brand zum Opfer.
Die Brücke wurde danach wieder aufgebaut.
Unfortunately big parts of the bridge was burned down on August 18. 1993.
They rebuilt the bridge and since then it's open for pedestrians again.
