Hello everyone!

As I mentioned today, Valhalla is the hall where Odin houses the dead. But what is so special about it? What is the secret behind its name?

Valhalla is located in Asgard (one of the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology). This place has 540 doors which are so wide that through it can walk 800 warriors side by side. Imagine how big it has to be! Also it is said that the roof is covered with golden shields, the walls are made from wooden spear shafts, seats are made of breastplates and gates are guarded by wolves, eagles fly above it. This is the hall of afterlife. Scary, but majestic.

The ones who are chosen to reside in Valhalla live a life worth to envy. All day long they fight in battles, spil their blood, loose parts of their body and fight with all their might, but when the evening comes their wounds are healed and the dead men (viking warriors) have their health fully restored.

Dinners at Valhalla comes with meat from the boar Saehrimnir, who comes back to life every time he is slaughtered. Drinks are as good as the meals, it is ofter mead from the goat Heidrun.

It would seem as a perfect afterlife if it wasn‘t for Odin‘s selfish purpose of having them for a battle in which warriors are doomed to die.

What do You think about Valhalla? Does it interest You? Would You want to get there?

Thank You for Your time, I hope this post was entertaining and interesting for You!

A friend of mine on YT posted a video today about the purpose of life. My answer is simple:

We are supposed to be warriors. As warriors we fighting to further individual liberty. By doing that, we make the world a better place.

My friends are warriors. They are in the fight and understand what's at stake and the seriousness of the battle.

I greatly appreciate the old ways and how warriors who died in battle died with a smile on their face. To me liberty is worth any price, and that includes physical death.

The Northern people were powerful in battle because they did not fear death. They were not suicidal either, but their lack of fear gave them a huge advantage. Christians for example feared death and prayed to their god for protection. Vikings did not fear death, and they instead prayed for a good one.

That difference made up for a lot of bad leadership decisions in battle I strongly suspect. Sure, leadership was still important, but one key to success in mortal combat is knowing you're already dead, fighting as if death is a good thing, and understanding that your life is not worth as much as the greater purpose for those left behind and for those in the future.

It's a world changing philosophy.

Yeah, people of the old Norse we true fighters, point of view for life were way different than these days and it is also the thing that I miss. While studying mythology I come with the idea that people nowadays should learn a few things from it, there are so many things that we lack now..

I have to admit that this is beyond my Imagination! Some Astral white castle, ye I ve been to that 😜 but the ever ongoing Fight to the blood and die - Just to rise up again and feast and this cicleling on to ethernety. Uh dunno. I Love Nordic culture, it's deep Connection to life. I mean Just the fact that they call the world garðr which is connected to Garden amazes me. Everything is living, they don't have Dead matter, even Stones might Roaming around as Trolls 😀

Halló!
Ég heiti Lukas. Ég fæddist í þýskaland og ég er tuttugu og sjö ára gamall. það gleður mig sömuleiðis að kynnast þér :)

pronounciation may vary a lot to spelling haha

Well that is what I call nice ;D

I know right? This language is amazing, even messing up your brain learning it!

Icelandic folks are even likely to understand old norse, because their language is preserved so much. They even have an agency to invent new words in their language, so they don't need to import foreign. So for example, the word for computer is "tölva" which means "number seer". I wish they'd do that in germany as well.

I am creating a promotion platform at the moment where I feature articles I like. I really like your about norse mythology, so I would like to ask permission to share it on my page. Is that ok for you? You can see what I mean by clicking on that banner :)

Share as much as You want, that would be realy nice btw ;) I am planning to post some more in the future!
