Teens Being Exposed to the Internet, Contributed by @JassennessaJ
DURING my time, being able to use a PC and access internet sites like the search engine Google or social media was already a privilege that is rarely enjoyed by people at my age. We had a very limited budget. That's why we would need to balance our time on the internet cafe by researching our assignments, accessing social media, and playing online games within an hour or two. We don't also get to use the internet every day before. It was only on rare occasions because it was considered a luxury before. Yeah, way different from the way kids enjoy internet nowadays.
It's pretty much more accessible these days. We can now visit our social media accounts on our smartphones. It is also easier and more convenient to access different sites now. There are also a lot of promos wherein you can have an internet connection without really paying much. The world has evolved and the education has become somewhat dependent on the internet. I don't see anything wrong with that because maybe the education system needs to adjust to the new era by embracing modern technologies.
At an early age, teenagers and even kids can easily navigate computers and smartphones. They're already so familiar with social media and are consistently posting selfies and aesthetic photos. Sometimes adults are having a hard time to keep up with them because they seem to live on a different world when they are on social media. It's fascinating to know that they are well-informed with the modern technologies and has been adapting it. But internet can be a scary world that can bring bad influences to our kids if adults failed to guide them properly. Not everything we see on the internet is right and not all teenagers are capable enough to distinguish what's right and what's wrong.
It is important that parents or guardians are always there to discipline our kids in terms of using the internet. We don't really have to restrict them from using it. It would be unfair to deprive them of modern technologies when we are living in a modern era. All we can do is to make sure that they are using these technologies moderately. It is important to make sure that they are still focused on their studies and not on social media or online games. There should be an equal amount of being lenient and being strict at the same time.
Teenagers should know that the world doesn't revolve around the internet. There's still a lot of things they can discover and explore without clicking and typing on their PCs. Furthermore, they have to be aware of its effects if they're overusing it and they have to be informed of its proper usage.
What can you say about teenagers being able to access the internet anytime they want? What do you think are the possible effects of this? Do you think it can help them or distract them from achieving their goals?
The internet is turning our kids in to Zombies! Seriously it's weird!
yeah.. we've all been there. Buying time at cafes, and being prompted that you have 5minutes left..haha. The advancement of technologies has seemly made internet access much cheaper. The internet itself isn't a good or bad thing, rather what we do with it can be. Hence, as adults, we can not always monitor the sites these young ones visit but we can install website blockers on the pc to prevent them from accessing potentially harmful websites and contents. Ultimately, educating them on the dangers of such habits can go a long way of helping them.

Wondering how even the toddlers get uses to internet....my 3 years old princes started to play rhyme on youtube....though it make me proud sometimes but also llmake me think on the continous dependency on these internet and gadgets.we as a parent do need to spend some qualty times so that the digital dependency do not get into addiction mode. The availaibility of internet and enhanced technology make many kids stray into wrong path...they get prone to porns , bloody games and all...making them vulnerable to bad things..which killing their childhood
Yes I totly agree with you, but depends on teenagers that how they us it and what for use it, but in my opinion the parents should be watched it and ask to them that why if they want a good result. Thanks
You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:
It should be occasions instead of occassions.Even with parents supervision, it is still difficult to ensure that kids are not misuing the web. The ease of access to porn and other vices is just scary.
Parents need to be on their A game always.
Thanks @communitycoin and @jassennessaj for sharing
Teenagers who are new on the internet often see it as a playground where they have endless things to try and explore. This leads to addiction and them drifting towards exploring different stuff on the internet which involves several chatting websites and content which can leave a deep impression on their young as well as developing minds. For instance, teenagers are seen getting into relationships with people they hardly know on the internet and thus begin the trauma which these young people should not go through at this age, not to forget the impact it has on their academic and social lives.
However, we cannot deny the fact that internet also comes with its set of positives as well. With the huge amount of information present on the internet, teenagers can use it to great extents for academic purposes. It will keep them connected with the outside world which will help them in staying informed about everything that is happening around the world.
Putting it in simple words, we can say that internet is good for teenagers as far as its use is regulated and they are taught about the positives as well as negatives from the beginning. They should be told not to convert it into an addiction. Remember that internet is needful for their academic growth and social development but it is never a necessity.
This is a very good topic, thanks so much buddy.
Indeed the world is evolving, and we need to be moving by its speed in order to be able to catch up with the speed by which it's changing.
Back to the topic in question.
Everything that is happening in the present age is a testimony on its own. Teenagers should not be stopped, but like you suggested, they can only be guided.
A lot of things they know now due to their unlimited access to internet, we don't know most of those things then, a lot of today's adult even find it so difficult to adapt to the speed at which the world is moving.... Smile
Restricting our children will definitely have negative effects on them, because they won't be able to catch up with their other counterparts.
As parents, let's try and give them the basic moral foundation, it will help them to stand in this ever changing world.
Let's be close to them as well, let's ensure we are asking about what they learn with the mind to learn from it and guide them if need be, if we do it right, they will be open to us.
Thank you and God bless you.
Researchers say that addiction is characterized by excessive use of the Internet, including symptoms of mood swings, the inability to control time can reduce social life.
Internet addiction, according to researchers, is difficult to detect with a much broader problem. Solutions for this event is Limit the internet usage time in children, so not too long in front of the computer that can damage the eyes if too long and often.
Use the internet if necessary eg for doing school work. Accompany the child in using the internet, telling you which ones are good and which are bad. Provide children with the religious sciences so that the child always remember the god (so there will be no negative things that are not in want).
