Inner Blocks Interview with @wesphilbin!
We are starting something new!
The motivation behind Inner Blocks is to see the creator behind the content. We know that you are more than the posts you make, and that you a real person doing real things. So with that in mind, we are starting a new series of interviews!
Now, these aren't your typical Steemit interviews. We won't be asking how long you've been on the platform or what your goals are for the next six month or even year. Nope, we are asking the real important questions like what was your favorite color when you were a kid? Or what do you do to find inner peace? They are full of silly questions and thought provoking questions.
Our first interview is with a Steemit user that has really contributed to every community he has come across, and we are lucky to have him about of the Inner Blocks!
@wesphilbin
1. What In Life Is Beautiful To You? Where Do You Find Inspiration?
That’s a great question! Life itself is beautiful… anything that catches our eye, makes us “feel” an emotion… Inspiration, to me, can come from many things… a good song, actions of others; I think it’s important to always “be” those things that others may find inspiration from!
2. What Is Your Most Unusual Talent?
I’m not sure about “unusual”, but perhaps most “known” would be making people laugh. When I was younger, I had a good friend who was quite good at recording things with his video recorder. He would record things with no sound, and in “slow motion”, then later, go back in and add sounds… like old time cartoons. I was always the first person he would come to, when he needed funny moments!
3. How Do You Manage Stress
I try to do anything that’s positive… my most favorite thing is helping people on our Blockchain. But the second would have to be listening to music. I feel that music is the “universal language”, and depending on my mood, I listen to anything from hard rock, classical, r & b, to new age. I also going outside with my other half, and tending to, or planting flowers. I always say, Multiple Sclerosis has taught me many things… names of flowers, how to care for them, etcetera. When I am able, I like to play games on my Ps4 console, and of course… spending time with family and friends… all the while, prayers always help to bring focus, to whatever the day may bring, as far as things involving stress.
4. What’s The Funniest Thing You’ve Seen A Kid Do?
Which time?! Lol… kids do indeed, “do” and “say” the funniest things. The most recent thing, was my granddaughter… my other half made a fake flower arrangement for Fall, and placed it on our counter. My granddaughter was smelling them, and said, “They don’t have a smell Grandma!”... There are so many things that I see daily… kids indeed do the funniest things, but they keep it real, and make me smile :)
5. If You Had The Opportunity To Travel To Another Planet With No Chance Of Ever Coming Back To Earth, Would You Go?
I have always been intrigued by Outer Space… when I was young, I used to copy articles from Encyclopedia about NASA, and anything “space” related. I love sci-fi… whether movies, or books, but to be honest? No… this is “home”... it’s in a sad state of repair, we are ruining so many things, but I don’t have any desire to go to another planet. Even if I could bring everyone I loved and cared for…
6. If You Could Breed Two Animals Together To Defy The Laws Of Nature What New Animal Would You Create?
You know… that is a good question, and definitely hadn’t thought of that. I am rather fond of butterflies, and also like wolves, as that is my Spirit Animal… hmmm; a flying wolf? A wolf with butterfly wings? That would look silly, I suppose.... I will have to think about that lol!
7. What’s Something You Think Every Person Should Experience In Their Lifetime?
Being a parent, I would say the wonders of childbirth, but that might not be “neutral” or age-specific. To be honest, this might not be looked upon as something positive, or appropriate, but to “truly” experience life, I would find it important to share the experience of living with, or being raised by the elderly. I was raised by my Grandmother, as my Mom worked several jobs when I was growing up. Yes… I have experienced, many memories; Nursing Homes, Funeral Homes, and hospitals. Sickness, passing of family, and in the same breath, enjoyable memories I will never forget. All of these things DO NOT involve mobile phones, game consoles, or television… maybe my answer should be, “spend one month without anything electronic”... :)
8. Would You Rather Have Unlimited Sushi For Life Or Unlimited Tacos For Life?
Tacos because… Sushi? Gross!!!
9. Are You Afraid To Speak Your Own Opinion?
I am not afraid to speak my own opinion, or rather… speak my mind. I was raised with manners; yes Sir, no Sir, open doors for people (notice I didn’t say just women)... but I was also raised by a Mom that was a Secretary all of her life… able to type over 95 words per minute without errors and proper format. I was also raised with the mindset, that communication was crucial, and no reason to produce confusion, misunderstanding, or outright “lie” to ANYONE. Speak your mind… if others don’t agree with you that doesn’t justify a reason to “hate” them. It just means, we are “human” and different!
10. Do You Have Any Superstitions?
I can remember many “superstitions” growing up. Probably too many “Twilight Zone” shows… to be honest, superstitions, to me, are much like fairy-tales or old-wives tales.
11. What’s The Wisest Thing You Have Ever Heard Someone Say?
Another tough one, as I have heard many things in my life, from various people that I would consider “wise”...
“If it hurts, don’t do it!”
“Today is a good day, to have a good day”
“Never go to sleep, without telling those you care for, you love them”
“Never bring your friends to a job interview; they might end up getting the job, and you won’t”
And the most memorable, from my Grandmother…
“Hate the Sin, not the person”
12. What Cheesy Song Do You Have Memorized?
Having grandkids, that would have to be “Baby Shark”... (sorry if you are now humming it lol).
13. Is It Easier To Hate Or To Love? Why?
This reminds me of the explanation of “it takes less muscles to smile than frown”... I suppose this would be a matter of personal choice; some people like to be mad, and some people like to be happy. I think this is a trick question! (I’d like my money back please!!)... To me, it would be easier to love, because I don’t like to be in a bad mood. Being upset, or stressed, flares my Multiple Sclerosis up. I was also raised to be a loving person, but again… this is such a deep and complex question… next!
14. What’s Something Weird That You Recommend Everyone Tries At Least Once?
Chocolate chip cookies and chili!! (Just try it ok?)
15. If You Could Have Chosen Your Own Name, What Would You Have Picked?
If I was going to be a girl, my Mom had chosen “April Laura”... but I was a boy, so “Wes” was the pick. I am actually happy with my given name, as it is a combination of family heritage (but my internet-based name is a pseudonym). So to answer this, I would ask others what they thought I should be called… (that could be a bad choice, if they didn’t like you lol).
We hope you all enjoyed that interview as we had giving! Stay tuned for more to come!

I hadn't thought about size! haha Yes, if it was little, then great! But what would it want to eat more? Raw meat or nectar? Mushed bugs? 😂
