No Way Out

Billionaires exist. Australia is on fire. Are these statements, these facts of our reality, unrelated? Billionaires and always growing wealth- and income inequality are the de facto outcomes of a system geared towards maximum profits and growth, an ideology that rewards a tiny class of people for the overproduction and overconsumption that has shaped our era.

Climate change is one thing we can directly relate to the systemic cultivation and rationalization of greed, perpetual war is another. I'll keep this short and to the point and refer you to the video linked below today's post; there's no way out of the illegal wars in the Middle East as long as we allow that tiny class of multi-billionaires run our daily lifes. I want you to realize that every restriction to your freedom comes not from government, but from the ones who own your government. We give this tiny cabal different names and labels: "the military industrial complex", "the shadow government", "the Illuminati", "the Bilderbergers", and imagine all kinds of conspiracies involving ancient bloodlines, sometimes even lizard people from other dimensions... It's just the economy people, no need for wild conjecture. Instead just follow the money and realize that the money trail ends up in a few hands, real hands that reside in our own dimension, are of our own species and are attached to minds that most successfully exploited the greed and fear their power is based on.

What we need to do is recognize that we're living in a global village now, and that there's no turning back from that without devolving back into the primitive mindset of warring tribalism. Instead we should accept the global tribe that is the reality of the deep interdependence that's cast upon us in the name of progress; our economy IS global and will remain global simply because we need resources, both human and otherwise, from all over the world to sustain our current state of scientific and technological progress. Globalization is a fact of our material reality, not only the result of a relentless ideological push toward the neoliberal world economy. We need to separate ideology from facts, and change the ideology to reflect those facts. Growth based on material self interest can no longer be the foundation of our individual interactions, nor our collective interaction with the planet that spawned us. We're not independent, not self sufficient and certainly not self made; that's the mindset we need to escape from.

I know I'm making some large jumps here, but I hope you do see the causal link between the existence of billionaires and the hell our Australian brothers and sisters are going through right now. The same link is responsible for the sobering fact that American people have voted to leave the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan election after election, but their elected leaders still do what they're instructed to do by the military industrial complex, so these wars get prolonged administration after administration; talk about destroying faith in democracy... There is a way out though, but it's going to take time and I don't know how much time we got left before we do collapse back behind our own borders, desperately trying to protect what's "ours".
