#BernieBlackout Ending?

in #informationwar5 years ago

The mainstream fears the Bernie Sanders campaign; their reporting on it, or the lack thereof, shows this clearly. Sanders' message and program are the exact opposite of the manufactured consent they usually report on behalf of their corporate masters, and they don not want to bite the hand that feeds them...

But these last couple of days it seems that the mainstream media has succumbed to the pure strength and inevitability of Sanders' race; the linked video is the best synopsis of this recent development I could find on short notice, but these last days' reporting has really been a night-and-day difference when compared to all the reporting done since the start of the Democratic primaries. Suddenly they agree that Bernie is indeed a force to be reckoned with. This illustrates beautifully what Sanders would be able to do, using the large base of grass-root support he has carefully built since 2016, if he were to become the next president. His base and his campaign are like the man himself: relentless. His proposals, like medicare for all, free college for all, paying off all student debts and so on, are what most people want, but will be opposed in any way possible by the establishment of both parties, which is why outside pressure, provided by large support from his base, is key to at least have a chance to get them passed into law.

With the Bernie blackout possibly ending, the Bernie push-back will get into gear. The opposition from the Democratic party elite has already started; do a quick search and you'll find that former president Obama, who is still very popular, now throws his support behind Elisabeth Warren. This shows two things; they'll do anything to oppose Sanders, and get a moderate Democrat to win the primaries, and it shows that Warren is indeed one of those moderates, one who will not fight for the radical changes needed to really make a difference. If it wasn't clear yet, it should be now: Warren is NOT the ticket for true progressive change, as shown clearly in this video:

Obama Praises Elizabeth Warren To Dem Elites

This Obama angle makes me think of something I've read in a few articles, a theory about how the Democratic party establishment could build in insurance in the case that the other moderates they've been trying to push forward, think Biden, Buttigieg and Klobuchard, fail at beating Sanders for the nomination; the name of Michelle Obama has been dropped a couple of times as a possible alternative, should all other attempts to preserve the status quo go awry. She's said she wouldn't run, but we should know by now to never trust what's said in politics, only what's done, and if she would decide to run anyway, I don't know what the effect would be... I do know that no stone will be left unturned in the search for a moderate alternative, someone who would change nothing essential, someone who would propose small incremental change instead of a fundamental and swift overhaul of a corrupt system.

The path of gradual or incremental change is a dead end; women's' rights, ending segregation and ending child labor were all changes brought about through radical change that was fueled by a large popular uprising, not through small steps made through internal processes. We need a Sanders presidency now more than ever, and with this changed attitude from the mainstream media there's a chance that older voters will now look more seriously upon Sanders' candidacy; it could be that final and sorely needed push to beat Joe Biden. If Biden becomes the Democratic candidate, we'll almost certainly have another four years of the Trump presidency...

Enjoy the video my friends! Bernie Sanders 2020!
