Identity Propaganda
Identity politics. The mere mention of these words can unleash fiery discussions between proponents and opponents of policies geared toward correcting certain social injustices, that more often than not have a long history.

The largest social group with the longest history of unequal treatment are without a doubt women, but there are a lot of identifiable subsections of society that suffer similar marginalization, like gay people, immigrants and so on. There are a lot of factors we can point to for an explanation of why this subject causes so much debate, especially online, such as the fact that we live in a time that's ripe for scapegoating; the financial crisis never left the middle and lower classes, and lay the blame for our misfortune at others. Another reason is the polarization that's willfully encouraged by the algorithms of the online powers that be, like Google, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and so on. And last but not least it has to be said that the political left, which is the corporate left and not the real left, has used identity politics mainly for propaganda, for literal virtue signalling to say to their voters "we still got the backs of the poor and the working poor", while actually enacting the policies demanded by their corporate donators.
This has led to one of the most paradoxical elections in recent history: the election of the first black POTUS, Barack Obama. He ran on a program of "real change we can believe in", and boy was he charismatic; like Trump in 2016 he knew exactly what words his constituency wanted, no, needed to hear. The paradox of his election and his eight years in office is that there's a direct line from him to Trump; the way Obama handled the financial crisis of 2007 / 2008 for a great part created the circumstances under which the American people were more than ready to elect the more populist "agent of change", and against the corporate Democrats. That's why I cringe every time I see people calling Trump-voters racist; a good deal of them voted not once, but twice for Obama. Obama's election was a great victory of identity politics, or so it was explained and felt; the first black president was surely an achievement of progressive politics. And right after Obama the same party pushed forward Hillary Clinton to become the first female president of that country, which was the epitome of woke virtue signalling. And in their hubris they thought they would easily defeat the o so politically incorrect Donald Trump; I believe Hillary is still not over that shock.
I've said it many times before, SJW politics have nothing to do with Cultural Marxism, or Postmodern Marxism, or Neo-Marxism, as right wing pundits would have you believe, but instead a propaganda strategy unleashed upon the populace by the corporate left, which is why every movie, television series or political debate is focused on minorities and marginalized groups in an unhealthy fashion. In a nutshell, the financial crisis that Obama inherited was caused by the excessive concentration of financial power. And he dealt with it by increasing the concentration of financial power; the banks caused the crisis, and he called a meeting of bank-directors to solve the problem. The crisis was caused by debts, and he dealt with it by increasing those debts (he did lower the deficit, that's another story). The crisis was dealt with as if it were a technical problem, instead of a fundamental flaw of money in politics. Income gaps widened even further, the people felt betrayed, and happily fled into the arms of Trump.
Now, all this was just leading up to the short video I want to share with you today, dear reader: YouTube channel The Hill posted what is in my opinion the best anti-SJW argument I've seen to date. Don't get me wrong: I strongly believe in addressing the social injustices that clearly exist, but I disagree when they are used as propaganda to divide the people, and that's exactly what this short news-item implies. The state of Kentucky has for the first time in its history elected an African American man to the post of State attorney general, and The Hill is amazed by the silence from Democrat politicians around this historic victory in a state that's 87% white and very conservative, according to the narrator. Here's the New York Times article: Daniel Cameron Becomes First Black Attorney General Elected in Kentucky If social justice really is so important, you'd expect every Democrat to shower Daniel Cameron with congratulations, so she claims. I don't know about that: Cameron is a Republican and in political circles partisanship is as prevalent as ever, so... But still, it shouldn't matter and I completely agree with the premise of the news-item. I also agree with the conclusion: the best person should be elected, always, regardless of race, sex, gender, age, ethnicity or sexual orientation. And most of the social injustices are really class-injustices, and that's where the focus of the political left should be.
