The Gilets Jaunes aka Yellow Vests - PART FOUR - “The police with us!”

Yesterday, I featured the police wall of shame. In this blog I want to pay homage to the police officers who removed their helmets, to those who joined the French people because they too ARE the French people, and because they are aware that the fight of the Gilets Jaunes is also for them, for their families, for their children, for their elderly parents.

These images are not the majority of police images, so I think it is important that they be highlighted, because it takes guts to go against orders.

As I have sifted through videos, I have come across police officers hiding behind full-face ski masks and distorted voices that support the Gilets Jaunes movement. Many more wear a (virtual) yellow vest under their uniforms, but at this time lack the support or the integrity or the courage to join their brothers and sisters on the right side of justice, and are allowing themselves to be instruments of repression.

(There are complicating factors in as much as the police also have had their own movement a few days ago and the government has responded much differently than it did to the Gilets Jaunes, but that is for another installment.)

A brief historical note before the “POLICE WITH US!” videos: there is a strong parallel between what is happening now and the French Revolution of 1789 when the some factions of the military sent to repress the rebellion of the very People they originated from refused to shoot at their kin and, when not imprisoned for desertion joined them.
