Slapping the Shizznit Out of Kanye

Snoop, the rapper not the dog; I mean tha Dogg not the cartoon dog called Snoopy.. n-E-way, Calvin is his real name. He is also known as the Doggfather or Snoop Lion.

Well, he recently made a candid appearance on the breakfast club; not the 80’s flick that was written and directed by John Hughes.

This breakfast club is a popular radio show and surprisingly no one ever talks about breakfast on the show nor do they ever seem to eat any.

Anywho, I keep getting off track here. This post is supposed to be on what Snoop said about Kanye West so I’ll just link you up with the clip so you can hear it for yourself.

The way that I interpreted the above banter was that Snoop thinks that Kanye needs a strong black woman in his life to slap the shit out of him whenever he starts talking about forbidden topics like freedom of thought or whenever he tries to runaway from the plantation of the mind.

This plantation is that of the fourth branch of government who through media and entertainment as well as various other distractions attempt to keep us enslaved.

This form of enslavement is not quite the same as being prohibited from learning how to read. Rather, people are inundated with so much data that they become so overwhelmed and distracted to the point where they are consumed by their own consumption and, therefore, have no time to comprehend that the plantation of the mind is real and shall continue to persist until we are able to break free from it.

Now let us for a moment set aside the fact that Snoop exercised a gross generalization about black women being violent. We'll do this because even though this is a stereotype it largely depends on one’s upbringing, therefore, it has the potential to be a true statement in some cases.

Yet, violence, that is a learned behavior. In fact, some might posit that historically speaking some black women may have adopted violent behavior as a survival trait for their children.

After all, if they could slap the shit out of their child for trying to read a book before anyone else caught wind of it, the woman might not only be able to save her child the pain of 40 lashes but also save his life!

So the road to violence in that sense was paved with good intentions. In another sense, female slaves just as male slaves were many times beaten severely and mistreated by either the slave master or his overseer (hired thug). So, in that sense, violence begets violence.

If you were raised in a household with parents who would “slap the shit out of you”, you’d grow up thinking that it’s very normal and think that it either instilled discipline or added to your character.

Some will wear it with a badge of honor and when they grow up and have kids of their own they will probably slap the shit out of them.

This, because people tend to do what they know and they know what’s been done to them.

It is not their fault though, right? I mean it’s not like there’s a handbook on how to raise kids. Well, there probably is but nobody reads them as they are too busy being entertained to death. Sorry, getting off track again. I’m meandering a bit.

To bring this to a close, I think it’s sad that in jest or otherwise Snoop sees violence as a solution to Kanye West’s attempts to free himself from the plantation of the mind.

Everyone should be encouraged to think freely. Now, that doesn’t mean that Kanye shouldn’t be subject to criticism, everyone should be, as that too is part of free speech. However, there is a big difference between using words vs. using violence or even going so far as to advocate the use of violence.

I just hope no women or men come away from that clip thinking that they should be violent to others because of a complex difference in opinion.
