I usually agree with everything Lew Rockwell writes, but this one strikes me as purely conjectural. In fact, based on the first couple paragraphs of this short article, you never would have expected him to wind up with THAT last sentence, would you?

I happen to agree, btw, that Trump is never going to make any serious break with the military-industrial complex, but the premise of Lew's article-- that he was about to be assassinated for doing so-- doesn't seem to square with everything else we know about this limited Middle Eastern pull-out of just one of many of our foreign current theaters of ongoing warfare.

Here's that last line by Lew:

"Running scared, Trump dashed to Iraq to let the generals know that this president is still a reliable tool for American imperialism."

Really? I just don't see how that fits... I'm not saying he's not still a tool, I just don't see how going to visit the troops at Christmas in Iraq is indicative of such a move/message. It could just as easily have been pure photo-op politics, right?

The Isreali botched attack that took out the Ilyushin-20 surveillance plane and the consequencial offer of the S-300 defence system to Syria is what has the US leaving with their tail between their legs, in my opinion.
