Debunking the meme, 56 Interventions
How naive average people are...
And how unable to process anything with a critical mind, even when they do have resources on 1 click.
This is a meme:
And now, some facts:
Claim 1: Guatemala, 1954, 200.000+ deaths
- Truth, there were 150.000 - 200.000 deaths, after 36 years of civil war! link. Saying that it's due to the USA is blunt.
Claim 2: Cuba 1961, intervention
- True... USA vs USSR
Claim 3: Haiti 2004
- Partially true, coup d'etat, about 50 deaths
Dominican Republic 1965
- Coup d'etat, USA intervened to evacuate their own citizens (and help a bit....) link
Puerto Rico, 1950
- Truth, no comment... Serious, serious, terrible war...
Grenada 1983-1984
- Truth, link. The same story, again. Two politicians, a fight erupts, USA intervenes... The result: 20 USA soldiers vs 70 From Cuba and Grenada. Sorry but, not a serious war
Salvador 81-92
- Serious civil war, USA, Chile, Argentina and Guatemala + Salvador "Blues" vs Cuba, Nicaragua + Salvador "Reds". Again, you can see the pattern, Blue vs Red.
Honduras 2009
- Guess what, coup d'etat
Nicaragua 81-90
- Yet another Blue vs Red war
Panama 89
- Finally, an invasion.
President Jimmy Carter and the de facto leader of Panama, General Omar Torrijos, signed Torrijos–Carter Treaties, which set in motion the process of handing over the Panama Canal to Panamanian control by 2000
What were you expecting... The USA intervened, protected their own interests, 20 dead USA soldiers and 200 from Panama.
Chile 1973
Coup d'etat, again. Red vs Blue, again... 60 dead in total
Venezuela, 2002
Coup d'etat, 19 killed.
