Improv Coin - An SMT for Art Performances (and a call for the Steem community to help build this)

in #improv-coin7 years ago

Improv Coin

An incentivized, blockchain-based, public performance platform.
Get paid to play.

Proof of brain has the following two properties:

a pool of tokens dedicated to incentivizing content creation and curation (called the "rewards pool")
a voting system that leverages the wisdom of the crowd to assess the value of content and distribute tokens to it

Improv coin has the following properties:

  • A pool of tokens dedicated to incentivizing real world performance of improv, music, art, dance, and theatre.
  • A voting system that leverages the wisdom of the crowd to assess the value of performance and distribute tokens to it

Improv coin will allow tokenization of the subjective intrinsic value of real world performances within the arts. Tokens will be distributed based on stake weighted voting within the Improv coin community. Performance events are posted on a website with event details; showing in calendar style the dates of the performances. This allows users to advertise their own events within the community as well as find out about other shows that are on. Community Improv coin holders vote based on their stake. There will be one week voting period, and then coins are distributed. Users require a username (which will also act as their address) to post their events, and to vote (Steem usernames?).
The website would have a community section for discussion and collaboration, as well as a comments function for events.
A separate SMT “YesAnd” would be used to incentivise users to comment, discuss, and collaborate.
This would expand the ecosystem, and promote conversation within the community, as well as rewarding the users who provide the value of discussion.

Why would artists want to use this?

It provides a seamless system of trust to reward the creation of performances, and the communities within improv and arts.

Regionally based

Keeping it regional to help focus on community building and value creation. Focusing on cities within the USA and UK would be much easier. Our languages and cultures are similar. We would allow anyone to use what we build to make their own version for whatever regions they want. This would create a sort of competitiveness between cultures and artists benefiting the overall ecosystem of Improv/culture coins.

A description of User interaction within the system

Interaction will require username/wallet. These are the two main interactions in regards to Improv Coin; posting events, and voting for events after they take place.

Event posting – Post the event with relevant information using the website. The event poster also determines the distribution of the Improv coin within the performance (% to cast, crew, venue, audience, beneficiaries, etc). This is all visible to the voters.
Voting entity – Using the website, explore, find, and vote for performances based on subjective valuation.

The following would involve the separate SMT "YesAnd"

Commenting - Commenting and curating on forums and within the events.

Staking purposes

Staking increases voting strength and will also increase demand for Improv coin. Large institutions such as big venues or institutions will want to accumulate lots of staked Improv, as this will incentivise bigger performances and more audience, positively feeding back into the system.
Staking could allow for voting of governance or for allocation of development funds.

Additional Ideas

  • A percentage of weekly reward pool will go to development budget. Use of development budget will be based on stake weight voting of community. Anyone can suggest anything.
  • Or we vote for 21 Improv directors (would be good to have official community liaisons) who discuss with community and make decisions based on vocal community backing. Pay them small % of reward pool?
  • Or we allow people to decide based on votes, and the directors sign off on it.

Having a development budget feels very necessary, as it is good to allow this system to evolve itself. Also it would be nice to throw a festival every year. Maybe USA one year, UK the next, and so forth, increasing collaboration and promoting growth of ecosystem. Development budget could also come from initial airdrop or ICO or a mix, or other.

Could also take % of reward pool and create other jobs if needed. Perhaps “oracle” types, who get paid to go to events and confirm and possibly review them. A DPOS-esque compensatory regulatory system would incentivise “Reviewers” to go to performances, or watch recordings.

“The economic and political mechanics of SMT Oracles are similar to Steem DPoS Witnesses - where instead of block and USD price-feed producing Witnesses, Oracles are paid for with SMT subsidies/new token emissions for pre-defined event-verification jobs and participants are voted into Oracle positions by stake-weighted voting of an SMT or a combination of SMTs. There are some other major differences, including the possibility of second levels of Oracles whose jobs are Quality Assurance, and the need for data consistency thresholds when determining consensus over how SMTs may be distributed.”

Distribution, ICO, and other considerations?

Initial airdrop to theatres, venues, and performance groups.
ICO needed?

Summary

A weekly reward pool is created, and a voting system determines the distribution.
ImprovCoin can be locked away (it can be released over so many weeks) in what is called staking. Your stake (amount of locked away coins) determines the power of your vote.
You create your event, and share it within the blockchain on a basic website so people are aware of it, and the arts community can vote on it for 7 days after the performance date(s). Sharing on the blockchain would involve just easy posting with maybe a pic and description and location etc of event.
People go the event, they then after vote based on their own staked ImprovCoin power if they want. Cast & crew can also vote, as well as the venue.
After the performance and 7 days have passed the rewards are distributed amongst the venue, cast & crew, and audience. All they need to provide is usernames/addresses like @everymantheatre or whatever, and it can be auto-distributed or just go to one entity depending on what people want.
So people get paid, and the value is backed by the performances. ImprovCoins will be airdropped onto local venues/theatres as well as local performance groups initially, and then created and distributed based on subjective performance value.
Theoretically, the better the performances, the more ImprovCoin is accumulated. This will push for venues, groups, individuals, and etc to want to hold lots of ImprovCoin so they take larger percentages from the reward pool, acting as a positive feedback mechanism, growing the system; with the voting system acting as regulatory feedback, ensuring quality is maintained.

ImprovCoin has huge potential in creating case example for doing real world things and getting paid through blockchain. As well as super-saiyan over 9000 ability of on-boarding new users to the Steem blockchain, providing explosive passive active user uptake, increasing the value of all connected ecosystems and their respective cryptocurrencies.

The arts have the power to transform our world. If you want to get involved with this project, join the Steem Experience discord(https://discord.gg/TCeYaq), or comment on this post, and let’s improvise this SMT into existence.

this is a very good idea we should implement it and everyone should support it :)

One of my favorite things is that Improv Coin is literally being improvised.

Put simiply, we are thinking of

tokens dedicated to incentivizing real world performance of improv, music, art, dance, and theatre.

Just that simple phrase is enough to reflect on. I appreciate hearing other people's opinions on SMT's in general. But I am especially interested in how Fintech can empower the live arts. What are other people's experiences at live shows? Where do they play shows?

this will be a great beginning to a new path with smt's coming in the content creators will love to do more work

I have heard of this coin before, but your detail clarifies it's value! See you at the CryptoPub!

SMT for Art : This looks so amazing truely our community will support it.

Well hope in the coming days it gets to spread to more cities ;)

SMT is gonna make a great change in the coming days !

this is a great thing to come up with but when smt's will be out ???

In the future ^_^
