Ai Weiwei challenges our Mental Borders
300 installations around NYC that block, prevent, and cut-off of citizens from their environment were created by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei as a condemnation of the tyrannical attempts to separate humans from each other. The public exhibition is commentary on our current state of "political divisiveness and the rise of anti-immigrant nationalism".
Ai Weiwei also relates our current state of intolerance and indifference to the famous classic walls surrounding China, and that after 2,000 years we still resort to the same inane and inarticulate solutions to complex problems.
Ai Weiwei states “Fences or territories always relate to us and our attitude towards others... it’s going backwards against freedom, humanity and our understanding of our time.”

Thanks for bringing this in, Ai Wei Wei is an amazing artist, fearless, and he's also suffered for his political beliefs. He's does a lot in the UK and this seems to be one of his clever ones where he makes people think as well as look.
It is that subtle genius where you take simple ideas, but the juxtaposition of things, by actually physically getting in people's face and make them deal with their bullshit beliefs they keep in the back of their mind... so powerful when you have to take some steps in someone else's shoes. peace
