Photography
Photographs are a way of imprisoning reality…One can’t possess reality, one can possess images–one can’t possess the present but one can possess the past. A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense and is thereby a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. “A camera alone does not make a picture. To make a picture you need a camera, a photographer and above all a subject. It is the subject that determines the interest of the photograph.” There are many different types of photography, such as landscape, macro, wildlife, portrait, documentary, fashion, travel and event photography.
The purpose of photography can vary depending on what the photographer is trying to achieve. For example, documentary and news photographers capture images for the purpose of providing detailed account of actual events, while hobbyist photographers aim to capture life moments with their families and friends. A great photograph should have good light, subject, and composition – the three elements that matter the most in photography. The photographer should have a strong vision, then express it in the most effective way possible. Source
Nature Photography
Nature photography focuses on landscapes, wildlife and plant life as they are found in their natural environment. Photographs of nature provides glimpses of animals, forests or mountains that may not be seen in person. Many nature photographers try to educate people about the beauty of nature, often with the hope that more people will be inspired to help the environment. The goal of a nature photographer is to photograph his subject with the least amount of disruption to the subject’s environment. The photographer should not cause destruction, harming the flora or fauna, in his attempt to photograph his subject. It also is not advised to try and interact with wild animals or attempt to manipulate a subject to obtain the desired shot. The end result should be an accurate presentation of the animal’s or plant’s natural state. Nature photography encompasses all forms of photography where the main subject has something to do with nature. Some of the more common types of nature photography include photographing wild animals, plants and flowers, in their natural environment as well as landscapes. Other types of nature photography include celestial bodies such as the sun, moon, and stars; insects and arachnids; and underwater creatures. Source
