Tips & Tricks For Beginners: How To Write An Article On Steemit 📷 [tutorial video inside]

in #howto7 years ago (edited)

Lately I've received a lot of messages from steemit users that are asking for feedback and suggestions regarding their articles.

First of all: thanks for that!

Since a lot of people seem to have the same questions, and a lot of times I'm answering in the same manner, today I'd like to share the given information with a wider audience.

There are basically three things that make a difference!

How To Write An Article On Steemit

In my today's tutorial video I'm not going to talk about content.

I rather presume that you already have a brilliant idea, an experience, a piece of knowledge or whatever story holding in your hands. It surely is something nobody else is able to provide, and now it's the time to publish it.

Good.

Once you've created the idea, there are some basic rules regarding how to structure an article.

They may also apply for your steemit #introduceyourself post where you present yourself in a personal way. It's actually applicable for whatever blog post you're going to publish.

The sooner you start to follow a general writing strategy, the merrier.

Before talking about text, these are the 3 points that I believe are able to make a huge difference:

  1. The title
  2. The main image
  3. The very first sentence

Watch my video, and you'll know why :-)

Furthermore, it's important to bring the most relevant information to the front and leave details in the back. That can be done by using headlines and different font styles (sizes).

Last but not least (thank you for this outstanding advice, @anomadsoul): try to write MUSIC. Yes, music!

Again thank you very much for sharing such a great advice, Eric. If you still don't follow him, then you should do now :-) --> @anomadsoul

So try to use different numbers of words in your sentences. Like that, reading is more entertaining and less monotonous.

Again thanks for all the users that have sent me messages, questions and links during the past weeks and for inspiring me to publish this video and article.

I hope you consider the provided information useful.

Please feel free to leave more questions about blogging in the comments section, I'd be happy to share all my knowledge with you.

Best,
Marly -

Excellent post Marly! You've got the points bang-on!

Thank you so much!! :) Hearing if from you means a lot!
Have an excellent Friday!!

Thanks Marly! Have a great weekend yourself!

@surfermarly ! 😀😀😀
I remember back in February feeling bad (for a second) when I brought your followers to 421 from '420' 😜
Thank YOU for following ME!
I hope I've brought a smile to your already beautiful face 🙂
Please help me if you can:
I've got an incredible iPhone video clip from New York at The Consensus conference, NO idea how to post a clip from my iPhone on to Steemit :(
Checked the web, no help there...
Any ideas?
Perhaps just a yes to my query and then a new post from you on how to do this would help you, me, everyone!
Cheers on your success, no doubt your dad's proud as can be 🙂
Thanks Marly 👍🤜🤛

First of all thank you very much for your kind words. I think dad is proud yeah😉

I remember you and your message!!! It was hilarious: you apologized for passing my followers count from (the beautiful) 420 to 421 😀😀😀 Wow... life is running fast. Now there are almost 1,000. Not sure where they came from and if they found what they were looking for. Hopefully they did 😉

Getting back to your question: you can't upload images and videos to steemit, so there is no hosting service. What you always need is another place where to publish it to then use the address (link) in order to include the video/image on steemit. I use YouTube for my videos. If you wanted to do the same, you'd need a YT account. Then upload the video from your smartphone or disk or wherever you've stored it. And then you can include / embed your video here in an article. Does that sound helpful to you?

Ok, awesome, thank you.
Now I know, thanks to you! 🤗
Cheers Marly,
Have a great weekend ✌️

Ohhhhh what wonderful person (& post of course)..... hope it helps me in future finding friends (haha)- was already thinking I must live in future from 0,05$ a day - lol ;)

Oooooooh 😍😍😍 That was cute!! Thank you!!!
The idea of steemit is that nobody has to live from $0,05 in the future... 🙂
Friends are hard to find and I don't have tips for that one. Well maybe one: be yourself.

oh no problem.... I will simple marry some cute famous pretty rich Steemian with a surf board - haha

Haha! I bet the wedding video will be trending 😅

With such actors.... must be the best what the world has ever seen :D

LOL - that really sounds like a bet! :)

I even mentioned you today again.... to hope to earn more (just a joke) - lol.

Maybe that comes from the time I was living in Italy where people use their hands a LOT...
Thanks for your nice feedback!

Thank you so much my friend!!! 😉 Hearing it from you means a lot.

Yes, the first sentence must rock. Here is advice from my favorite author Kurt Vonnegut, "Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To heck with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages.

Yeah, you sent me a link to his article once, and I didn't forget about it :-)
That's a really important message! Thanks for adding it.

Great piece Surfer girl and it made me smile. :-) I didn't even know you could add videos to one's posts until I'd seen this. Thanks and followed.

You are very welcome and thanks for your nice comment! When including videos you have to follow some rules. I'll write an article about it the next days so stay tuned 😉
