What to do with the Turkey?
Last Spring my husband took the kids to Rural King and came home with 6 peeps and a turkey. I always wanted a turkey to watch roam around the yard. He has turned out to be a great source of entertainment for us and the kids. blog
He also has been a great source of poop. He is now eye level with our five year old who loves to kiss and hug him every chance she gets.
Thanksgiving is drawing near and we have To Decide what to do with him. We were going to drop him off at a farm. I just can' t imagine butchering him at home. He is and nice and meaty though. I think the best choice is to take him to a local butcher shop and have them do the dirty work. I will keep you posted on our decision.
Moral of the story. Do not get too attached to the animal you might want to eat later. :-)
So true! The kids have a habit of naming every animal we have. A free range turkey sure sounds good for Thanksgiving though. It pecked my daughter on the lip, I don't want it to peck her eye.
Oh dear, I hope it wasn't too serious. That's the problem with animals. There is just no telling how they will response or react to us or our actions. One moment they are fun, fine and loving, and the next they can be vicious. Their behaviour is just too unpredictable.
