Blessings... and a question for you homesteaders!

Today's harvest.... we are so blessed to have daily harvests of all sorts of goodies. Each day brings something new. There is no shortage of food and you too can have this!! It takes work upfront, but then it is a walk in the garden from there....literally. Put the effort in upfront to build a good strong foundation and it will pay you back tenfold. This is why we do no dig/no till/Back To Eden/Lasagna....whatever you would like to call it.

The next round of corn are tasseling, sweet potatoes are sprawling, Sorghum is heading, peppers are looking beautiful, we are getting our first Roselle calyx (yaay!!!!), got a beautiful bountiful harvest today, so much more out there still. The orchard floor is filling in....it's getting hard to walk around in there haha. Today my goal is to process the harvest, and FINALLY sit down to edit the video tour. I also have to process about $50 worth of seed orders from our Etsy shop!
Thank you all for your purchases, support, thumbs up, love, all that jazz!! We really appreciate you!!

We have quite a few more grape clusters that will be ready in the next few days. I'm torn on what to do with all the grapes...wine, or jelly. I'm leaning towards wine though. This is the first year this vine is producing. We have a decent amount but not an abundant amount. What would you do with them?? If you have a favorite homemade wine recipe, please share! :).

Captions are with each picture...check them out! Blessings.

Sakata sweet melon. So so delish!! I like them when they are fully cream-colored (no green) but not quite with the browning streeks because then it tastes more like honeydew and I don't care for honeydew. When they are young like this it tastes more like a cross between a super sweet apple and a pear. I love them.

Lots more grapes out there and still some in the fridge from yesterday's harvest. Will be washing what we have so far to freeze until they are all ready. Yummy tomatoes, some okra, and these Yamato Extra Long cucumbers are still kicking them out beautifully. The plant looks awful at this point but they are still producing a good amount. There are 4 more on there just a little smaller which we will pick tomorrow. And lots of babies.

As you see...a few pests attempted nibbles of our produce but didn't get very far. Our produce is so full of water, juice, nutrients, flavor....they don't even want. Pests tend to go for weak, sickly, sad plants.

Had to trim the lower branches off of one of our Moringa trees. A rabbit found it's way into the yard and nibbled the bottom few branches. Not an issue, I'm happy it got something nutritious and it hasn't done a lot of damage at all. It's been visiting often and we have plenty to share. Trimming the bottom branches helps encourage more growth and these were starting to die back so might as well use them before that happens! If the bunny becomes to much an issue I can plug up the hole where he/she is coming in from.

I love how pretty those heirloom cowpeas are! We get about a handful like this a day. Sometimes a little more. And we just planted a lot more plants. They came up super quick! The rampicante are still doing amazing. There are a lot on the plant still but I'll let some more cure for winter storage since I can't keep up with the fresh. Aremenian cucumbers kicking them out still, I grabbed some young peppers that just blushed for our salad today....

Just a few more days and these will be ready....

More grapes. Please leave me a comment below as to what you would make with your grape harvest?? These are a concord variety. Thick skinned, seeds, and a bit acidic.

Roselle hibiscus flower with a bee inside. tehehe. I love watching them collect pollen. Here is a DID YOU KNOW...the leaves on this plant are edible and delicious. They have a lemony flavor and go great in a fresh salad.

Our first calyx!!! So exciting!!!

Another beautiful calyx. There will be LOTS more since we have quite a few bushes. Ohhh the plans I have for these. tehehe.

Ah, bad exposure. Sorry! But look at these peppers. Beautiful!

These are some yummy and juicy peppers. I'm anxiously waiting for them to turn red. We've eaten a few green and they are delicious so I can't wait for the red ones. I wasn't as patient last year when we grew these and we just ate them all green. haha. I'm trying to be patient this year. I love peppers. I would have grown double the amount we did but we lost a lot of plants in the greenhouse fiasco so what we have is what we have. These are Ajvarski Sweet Peppers.

This is such a pretty corn. Really does well here. Nothing bothers them.

More pretty corn with the sweet potatoes as ground cover.

Pretty pretty....and yum.

It's getting challenging to walk in that jungle. From this far a view it is hard to appreciate that as you can't really see all that is in there but you will in the video tour. Actually, the video tour was done in parts and when I walked this one it wasn't as full because we had ripped out a few older plants and the new stuff had just begun to come up....more things are STILL coming up so this will be super full once again

My beautiful paradise. And it just keeps getting better and better each year.

Seriously, leave us a comment on what to do with those grapes! What are your thoughts? Jelly? Wine? Something else??

With lots of love

Spectacular is the only word to describe what you have going on. We also grow so much of what we consume these days.
To avoid all of the herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides that are sprayed on almost everything that is found in the supermarkets, I feel that providing for oneself is the only option.
Have added you to my follow list as I thoroughly enjoyed this blog @kindredacres, great stuff.

We had lots of wild concord grapes in our neighborhood and one year I collected them all and made 28 QUARTS of grape jam for my husband. It lasted him about 9 months, in his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Wild grapes are labor intensive as they have a pest that lays eggs inside, so each grape needs checked...

Also I like that you caption each photo with what is in it. Sometimes I don't recognize things and it's good to know what they are.
