World of Cricket Contest Series | Contest - 5 :: The best Test XI of all time!!!
source
Top-order: Top-order is usually considered with two openers and one down. So I will select three people separately for these three positions. I will never play two right-handed batsmen in the opening. So I will build a XI with a left-handed and a right-handed opener to sort out the varied XI.
- Sir Jack Hobbs scored 5410 runs in 61 Tests at an average of 57.94 with 15 centuries and 27 half-centuries, a maximum of 211 runs.
- Matthew Hayden scored 8625 runs in 103 Tests at an average of 50.63 with 30 centuries and 29 half-centuries, a maximum of 360 runs.
- Don Bradman scored 6996 runs in 52 Tests at an average of 99.94, with 29 centuries, 12 double centuries, 2 triple centuries, 13 half-centuries, and a maximum of 334 runs.
Middle Order: Middle-order consists with 4-6 in four. However, I will consider an all-rounder in the 6th position and a wicketkeeper in the 7th position.
- Sachin Tendulkar scored 15921 runs in 200 Tests at an average of 53.6. He also scored 51 centuries and 6 half-centuries, a maximum of 246 runs.
- Brian Lara scored 11953 runs in 131 Tests at an average of 52.6. He also scored 34 centuries and 46 half-centuries, a maximum of 400 *.
- Sir Garfield Sobers scored 8032 runs in 93 Tests at an average of 57.6. There are 26 centuries and 30 half-centuries, maximum 365 * runs, with 235 wickets as a bonus.
- Adam Gilchrist scored 5560 runs in 96 Tests at an average of 47.80 with 16 centuries and 27 half-centuries, a maximum of 204 * runs, and 389 catches, and 36 stumpings.
Bowling Order: Just as the batting of a batsman is important in Test cricket, so is his bowling average. So I will focus on the bowling average in selecting the best bowler. I divided the bowling order into two parts. One is seaming and the other is herring. First I will build 3 seamers and 1 spinner XI. I will build a diverse seaming department.
- Wasim Akram took 414 wickets in 104 Tests at an average of 23.62. 5 wickets 25 times in an innings and 10 wickets 5 times in a match, best bowling 8/119.
- Shane Warne took 606 wickets in 145 Tests at an average of 25.41. 5 wickets 36 times in an innings and 10 wickets 10 times in a match, best bowling 6/71.
- Curtly Ambrose took 405 wickets in 96 Tests at an average of 20.99. 5 wickets 22 times in an innings and 10 wickets 3 times in a match, best bowling 8/45.
- Glenn McGrath took 563 wickets in 124 Tests at an average of 21.64. 5 wickets 29 times in an innings and 10 wickets 3 times in a match, best bowling 8/24.
Captain: Wasim Akram was under Pakistan's rule for several days. But to be an ideal captain, he didn't have to have all the qualities you need. Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar have not had much success as captains. Former Aussie captain Sir Don Bradman's captaincy statistics are enormous. Had it not been for World War II, Bradman would have risen to greater heights, and captaincy statistics would have been richer. So without further discussion, I want to keep Bradman as the captain.
