Hello steem cameroon, @thegreens and the entire leadership of the @steem-cameroon community. It is once again a pleasure for me to be part of a wonderful contest: the creative writing contest Volume 15 tagged "Education: What do you think about the number of subjects and content of subjects students study in Cameroon?".
Looking at the education system in cameroon, it is okay to say that there is a problem. Begining right from the nursery and primary schools Ill love to say that there is much that needs to be adjusted as time progresses.

At the primary level i will love to say that the number of subjects taught here in Cameroon isn't that bad as compared to other regions of the world. The Basic system of education exposed our children to the diversified world and a general picture of how the globe operates which to me is what they need. I issue here as earlier mention is Incompetence which can be solved b getting more trained teachers into service and organizing better training platforms and programs for the already available ones.

coming to the secondary educational sector. i think this is where we have the bone of contention. Students barely almost everything meanwhile there is just need for some specifics knowledge in their chosen fields to create the change we are in need of. Having children in form one and two doing all subjects isn't bad since there is a need for some general awareness and also the need to develop the mind to choose which career works best for the student. But at the level of form 3 right up till upper sixth students should be given that precise knowledge and should be taught those precise subjects relating to their career fields. If this could be done and then better career orientation programs introduced in our schools, then we are going to experience a growth in the quality of education we offer.

So having a student studying so many unrelated subjects right up till form 3 leaves the student at a point of confusion and indecision due to circumstances beyond their control.

At the higher education and university levels, there is not much of a problem as the number of subjects studied in most cases are directly related to the students career of study. Except for few cases in some polytechnics and universities that students still suffer the problem of studying what wont help them. But i think if universities and polytechnics can connect to "mother universities for better mentorship then issues like the courses and subjects will be well spelled out and sorted out"
So to conclude i will love to say that as the student makes advances in class the number of subject should automatically be reduced to give the student precision in what ever learning field he or she has chosen.
This is my humble opinion. Thanks for reading and see you on the next episode

I totally agree with you that we need some educational reforms and you raised an important point of specialization our education as from Form 3. It's very important!

You're right. Where we start our focus is as from form 3 but that's not when education starts. Education starts from the day we start to learn anything. Anyways your points are very valid and I hope some changes come up in the future
