Steemit Engagement Challenge S8-W2 | Gender visibility and enquality.

Hello good people of steemit and the wonderful people of Steem Cameroon how are you all doing I hope all is well this is my first time of posting and participating in the steem Cameroon community contest.

In my todays entry I will be taking part in a steemit engagement challenge S8-W2 organized by the steem Cameroon with the theme "Gender visibility and enquality" which I will be talking about the equality of humans irrespective of their gender and the fight against gender discrimination.

HOW CAN YOU HELP YOUR COMMUNITY FORGE A GENDER-EQUAL WORLD?

The inequality of gender is seen almost every way in the world today to the point that even in the old testament it was written that a woman has no right to speak in church rather if she has something to say she should refer to her husband which is very bad.

In other to stop 🛑 this we need to make everyone aware and create a gender equal world, which can be done with a simple medium like the social media and government should implement a women's education policy which will educate the public on the right of the women.

Thereby empowering them to have the right tools to defend themselves when their rights are being abuse or trembled on.

CAN CELEBRATING WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL DAY INCREASE VISIBILITY AND EQUALITY?

The celebration of women's day which is observed on 8 march every year is always aim at showing to the world how important women's are, and showing that their fundamental human rights should be respected.

The international women's day is celebrated all over the world and each countries will established certain programs which is aim at discussing women's affairs, financial, social and political rights, talk shows and hosting of seminars etc. Which it may be but all is for the same purpose which is to promote gender equality in our society.

ARE THE FEMINISM FIGHT AND THE WOMEN'S RIGHTS FIGHT THE SAME?

In this case feminism fight and the fight for women's rights all means the same thing be because feminism was a movement organized in the 20th century to help fight for the right of women to promote women's empowerment, women's rights, women's equality and put an end to women's suffrage and oppression from the opposite gender.

And I must say that through this movement a lot of this was achieved and the right of women were protected example women suffrage, family law to end domestic violence, equality before the law etc.

Just like in our dear state which is akwa ibom state the wife of our governor which is the first lady in our state has set up a law that prevents women most especially the girl child from rape and child abused which this is considered to be a feminist movement.

WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT WOMEN IN TOP POSITIONS LIKE PRESIDENTS, PARLIAMENTARIANS, SENATORS, CEOs

What I have to say about women who are opportune to be in a top position is that since there are human beings like us and as long as we are still operating a democratic system of government which states that as long as a citizen is qualify he or she has the right to be elected as a leader.

In Nigeria even though it's a little bit embarrassing but as from 2015 to 2019 there were only 7 female senators but currently there are only 25 female senators in Nigeria, while the house of representatives had 22 females out of the 360 members but as at 2019 the numbers declined to only 11, but at least it's a good start because that shows that the women's rights are being recognized and respected.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD LEADER (GENDER OR MERIT)

In this case what makes a good leader is his or her personalities, qualifications, interest, positive attitude to work etc. That is why I say that what makes a good leader is merit and not gender.

Because in terms of choosing a leader it doesn't matter if he or she is a male or female rather they most qualified person who has the highest number of support known as votes in a democratic system will definitely becomes a leader.

CONCLUSION

In other to be able to move forward we must first of all eliminate gender discrimination and let both genders be given an equal opportunity in life because we don't know what there might have to offer that may change our life's for the better in the future, thank you all for your time and God bless.
