CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST VOL.14: THE NUMBER OF SUBJECTS STUDIED IN CAMEROON AND THEIR CONTENT

Good day ladies and gentlemen! How are we doing today? It's a privilege to take part in this wonderful edition of creative writing titled : Subjects studied in cameroon and their content. I appreciate Sir @thegreens for such an opportunity to better express myself as regards Cameroon educational system.

Education is a backbone of most economies. The question most people will ask is which kind of educationalsystem is being practised? What are the subjects studied and what's the content.

Ladies and gentlemen let's take the case of Cameroon educational system at the level of secondary schools. At the levels of form one to form three, they study close to 15 subjects until they cross to form four where they start specialising either in sciences or arts. This is for the grammar schools.

Before talking of the contents which forme is not the best, permit me draw our attention to this important aspect of education that is being neglected. At the level of form one to three, the students in cameroon don't have a vision as to what they want to be in future.

There's is this aspect of quidance and councelling that is lacking in our secondary schools. Students leave secondary schools to the university without knowing what they are studying to become in the future.

For example, at the junior level students are supposed to be educated on all the subjects. The school should have a Quidance and Councelling Department only to oriented these students. They should tell the students that;

Those who wish to be medical doctors must do well in subjects like chemistry, biology physics and mathematics.

Those who want to be bankers must do well in subjectslike economics, mathematics accounting, banking and finance.
This should hold true with other subjects and their related careers.

Students in Cameroon find it difficult in the job market because they were just going to school because they were told education is good.

The many subjects are a problem on its own. They make students more confused. The educational standards and values are low. This explains why most students who left the country for further studies are are sent back to lower levels.

I will suggest that our students school foundation should be well built in such a way that they can start coming out with their vision as they climb up the educational ladder.
This is because when you study without a vision you perish at the end.
