Steem Cameroon Contest - National Day(Nigeria)

Hello, friends, I'm happy to participate once again in this wonderful contest here in this community again this week. Today I will be talking about a day that is also very important here in my dear country Nigeria. I do hope you will enjoy reading through my post.

To attain this contest more effectively, I will be using the contest tips as a guide to explaining the selected day. So have fun as you continue reading through my blog.

What do you know about the day? (Make sure you mention the actual date) (50 -100 wards)

National Day is one of the days in my country which is kept in very high regard. I said this because it is the day Nigeria as a country got its independence. It is a period where Nigeria celebrated freedom from the hands of the colonial masters.

On this day, every Nigerian became so happy and can be proud to be a member of the country Nigeria. Since the first national day which is 1st October 1960 till now, the country has always sought to improve viits's leaders.

It has not been an easy task though but we have always pushed ahead and every 1st of October Nigerians always celebrate this freedom in a grand style. They are given a workfree day and there are many other activities done within that period.

How do you or your country or your organization celebrate the day? (50-100 words)

There is always a break or public holiday during this period and which makes people all over the country completely free to celebrate the day effectively. On this day, we have special dances and other activities done in our localities.

Here in my community, people always gather together in the village square from noon to dance and share what they have with each other. There is always enough food and drinks available for all to take. This way everyone sees the day as a day that they are set free.

What impact does your community gain during and after the commemoration? (50-100 words)

During this period, those representing the community in the headquarters come around or send in delegates who will make promises of what they will do after hearing from the people about their various needs.

Most times, they also come along with lots of palliative which they share with everyone present at the occasion as they celebrate. They also seek out families of the less privileged during that period to support them in the little way they can.

What issue or concern will you recommend to be commemorated this week and on what date?

Well for this week, I will recommend that a commemoration date be set for the struggling youths. I will like the date to be 18th August 2023. The reason I have selected this is that this very day is the day we the youths here in my community start our youth program where we groom youths to become the future of tomorrow.

With such, they will be able to give the youths a sense of belonging which will make life a little better since they are being recognized. So that is what I will like to be celebrated within this week.
