It is another wonderful opportunity for me to discuss this wonderful contest today which goes with the title commemorated day in my country Nigeria. There is no doubt that every country has a special day which they commemorate and that of Nigeria is not different.

There are many days within the year which my country Nigeria holds in high esteem but for this contest today, I will pick just one and then discuss it. Subsequently, I will discuss the others as we continue with the contests.

Democracy Day is one of the biggest days in my country Nigeria and it is celebrated every 12th of June. This is the day the country was completely free from the colonial masters as they began to practice democracy which is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Before this time, politics was a very tough game and the country was ruled by the military so only the strong survive the rule. The masses wanted a government where their saying will also count and that actualization took place on June 12 hence the celebrations.

To celebrate this great day, my country always gives a public holiday to both government and private own businesses and a parade is carried out in every state capital which is headed by the governor of the state. This parade is done for unit purposes and schools are represented and lots of competition is also carried out.

Well, this is a period that reminds the leaders that they are there to serve the masses they listen to complaints and suggestions from different sectors during the occasion and they also listen to a few speeches and advice as well since they are not very close to the grassroots.

This helps them to adjust in their dealings with the masses because anytime they hear things from the grassroots they become fully aware of what their subjects are passing through and since it is a democracy everyone should be part of the government.

A lot has happened in Nigeria recently and things are getting even worse by the day for that reason, I recommend that a date should be set aside to review what we call democracy today. I recommend the 30th day of July for this occasion so that others will also sit and think if what we are doing is a democracy or another thing since the votes of the masses no longer count in the country.

I want to finally invite @bonaventure24, @mjerry and @yakspeace to also join the contest today. I wish to read and hear from you all about a special day that is commemorated here in Nigeria.
