Children living with autism spectrum disorder are neglected by the members of the community because the people believe that they were possessed by evil spirit or demon. Some parents who experience this kind of situation often abandon their children without give them full support and care.

Autism usually appear to the children at age of 2years, the kind of treatment they given them is inhumane and when the child grow old they will not allows to participate in any society development.

What is your Understanding of autistic spectrum disorder?

Autism spectrum disorder is describes as developmental disorder in which people living with autism find it difficulty to interact, learn and associate with other members in the society. They also isolate themself due to challenges they face on a daily basis or how people view them negatively in their environment. Some school of thought belief that genetic and environmental factor are the reason behind autism condition while other belief their is no causes for autism

People with this kind of behavioural disorder lack maximum support from their caregiver, this lack of support often affect them not to properly function in the school and work place. Autism spectrum disorder happened to both gender (male and female), their way of responding, paying attention to little things and their movement is quietly different.

State and explain early signs or symptoms of Autism spectrum disorder.

The sign and symptom of autism spectrum disorder include the following:

• Social communication and interaction behavior.

• Repetitive behavior.

√ Social communication and interaction behavior: People living with autism disorder find it very difficult to respond to their own name due to their brain imbalance. Sometimes they do not show proper respond to facial expression because they do not understand what is all about, autism disorder have negative impact in the life of children because they do not play and interact with their friends.

Sometimes they do not aware the feeling of other people or what other people are going through in life. Another sign is that they cannot start meaningful interaction with their friends especially when they were in school or work place.

√ Repetitive behavior: This is another sign that's very common among the people experienced autism disorder. They easily get angry especially when their is change in their daily activities, they often repeat word over and over again and lastly they find it difficult to sleep for a long period of time.

Is it a curable Disease?, How can it be handled?.

No, Autism spectrum disorder cannot be cure but the caregiver or parents can reduce the symptom or sign from reoccurring and such child must be given full support and appropriate care. Once your child doctor has diagnosed the condition and they truly find out that he or she have autism. The only things is to intervene and collaborate with other expert in the field if necessary.

Early intervention can help the child to develop positive communication, learn new things and play with other children in school and house.

No drugs can cure autism spectrum disorder but some certain drugs are prescribed to people with autism disorder if they experience anxiety and depression.

Have you ever had an encounter with a person suffering from autistic spectrum disorder ?

I am social worker by profession, I came across many of them during my one year mandatory National youths service corp (NYSC) in Kano state, Nigeria. I was posted to Kano state relief and rehabilitation agency where different kind of behavioral disorder have been attended to.

In fact, I have been able to see the practical aspect of what we have been learned in school. Some of them with this condition were doing well and they can also be able to communicate with their family and friends whenever they come to visited them.

They always like to played with me whenever they noticed I am around and Sometime I endured some of their behavior because I see them as members of the society who are only difference.

Share your advice to the society, caregivers, and parents of children with autism?

People with autism have the right to participate and contribute to the success of any community, parents must make them happy always by give them good food, buying them nice clothes and they must also receive quality education like other children.

People in the society must shun kind of discrimination giving toward them because they are human being like us who need a lot of proper care and attention. Community and parents must also make sure people with autism received affordable or quality health service in order to enjoy their standard of living.

Government of any countries must provide enabling environment for people with autism and setout policy that is most favorable and provide quality of life for people living with autism.

Conclusion
