Dear Petface,

I am thrilled that you finally dared to take part in an engagement challenge. There is a first time for everything as I have told you before which is full of excitement, exactly as you are every time you call me and can’t wait to bring up your latest online achievement.

Just stay true to yourself, support the others who also entered this contest and don’t wait long to ask them questions or to answer theirs. What the points are based on makes total sense to me and I hope that you will score the maximum number of points applicable to your club status.

It goes without saying that your grandfather and I like the topic of this challenge. It is lovely to slow down, look back and around and appreciate what you’ve got. We are really glad that you chose to feature an item that we gifted to you when you were little. You actually got this vintage desk calendar when you won the junior businessman award at your primary school for the dressmaking shop you opened. We still remember how annoyed your mum was every time coming back home after work and seeing your Rose’s shop sign on the front door instead of on the door of your room upstairs.

We all know what a popular kid you were so often, especially on weekends, girls kept coming to the house to buy new outfits for their Barbies and especially your signature tights. They were ever so difficult to make by hand for their long skinny legs. I have also covered for you several times when you kept using your mums fine new tights to make more for the Barbies. Your secret is safe with me my dear as your mother is, bless her, as busy as she was then and still hasn’t got an account on Steemit. I think she should sign up though as even your grandfather and I have an account thanks to you of course. I like that I don’t need to turn the computer on to see your articles and I can just read them on the tablet or the phone.

So the desk calendar you are still fond of is from the 1940s and it was made in England. Grandfather and I got it at the bazaar in Brighton one very hot August day. We negotiated the price and paid a bit less than the asking price. This item is worth much more now having looked on eBay but we both know how precious it is to you so you have no intention of selling it.

When we just got the desk calendar we often had early morning heated discussions whether the date has been updated or not. Back in the days no one had an Alexa to just ask what day of the week it is. Slowly but surely we got used to our new device and agreed that whoever is up first needs to change the date on it. I do admit that on special occasions like your birthday of course, the 14th March, we left the date stay on for a few days as you loved doing when staying at ours every Christmas.

Also I do remember that you used that desk calendar about a year ago when you summarised your Steemit strategy in a video #club5050 How I will Succeed!

Last but not least don’t forget to invite your friends @sduttaskitchen @patjewell and @goodybest who will probably be very tempted to enter the relic engagement challenge too.

Yours sincerely,

Diana

All photos are mine and I took them today with my iPhone 12.

Stupid me! I cried!
I must be female after all as I wee through my eyes.
What a special nostalgic item remembered by two special people.
Guess what? This should not be your last engagement challenge.
You did WELL!
Good luck for the contest and thank you for the invite.

😀 Thank you ever so much @patjewell I appreciate the encouragement and I also reckon that this will be one of many engagement challenges which I will enter. Some of the topics tend to be rather serious but whenever I come across something more personal or creative, I try not to miss the opportunity to participate. Have a lovely weekend in SA.

Awh thank you! 🎕
It is overcast which is so nice after a few very HOT days.
A beautiful weekend to you also.

@petface, Friend, I will tell you beforehand that the wooden servant is very cute, the one who sculpted the wood and gave it the shape of a servant is a great artist.

And speaking of the history of your desk calendar, I see that it is very old.

A beautiful relic that treasures in your hands.

Surely the situation was complicated when they left a day or days without updating the calendar date haha.

Thank you for your participation in the contest.

I send you a big hug from Caracas Venezuela.

You are more than welcome my friend @albenis I simply love the topic so I am glad that I managed to enter the contest. I am pleased that I scored 9 out of 10, my grandparents will be really proud, will catch up over the weekend. I am glad that the story made you laugh. They do laugh at it now but it was a real issue back then as you can imagine. Virtual hugs back from sunny today London, England.

The desk calendar is mind blowing and it shows the aesthetic sence of great master mind. Such old civilization are precious forbus, how nice it still looking. I just love it.
Best regards

Greetings my friend @drhira How not to love it indeed! I also think that it helps the kids master spelling the months and the days of the week. I do take good care of it, dusting it often and an occasional polish certainly help.
