This Sunday has passed without many problems, it has some rain and very cool weather. With few things to talk about my personal #life that are fun. So, like other calm days, I think it's best that we go directly to commenting on the anniversary of #History that caught my attention today, September 24.
Initially, a day of cancer research is commemorated, but for reasons of personal sensitivity with a detail of these days, I preferred not to touch on that commemoration, however, it happened that it caught my attention that it is also the anniversary of the death of a writer of children's stories. Today, in 1991, Dr. Seuss died (after a long illness from cancer), or to use his birth name, Theodor Seuss Geisel died.

Este día domingo ha transcurrido sin muchos problemas, tiene algo de lluvias y clima muy fresco. Con pocas cosas que contar de mi #vida personal que sean divertidas. Así que, al igual que otros días calmados, creo mejor que pasemos directamente a comentar sobre la efeméride de la #Historia que me llamó la atención hoy, 24 de septiembre.
En inicio se conmemora un día de investigación sobre el cáncer, pero por motivos de sensibilidad personal con un detalle de estos días, preferí no tocar esa conmemoración, sin embargo, sucede que me llamó la atención que es también el aniversario de la muerte de un #escritor de #cuentos infantiles. Hoy, en 1991, falleció (luego de una larga enfermedad de cáncer) el Dr Seuss, o dicho por su nombre de nacimiento, murió Theodor Seuss Geisel.

Dr. Seuss was the pseudonym that this #writer assumed during his youth, as a university student, in reality it was only that he signed as Seuss his works as a columnist and as a newspaper editor, the title of 'Dr.' He added it to his nickname after him, partly as a way to compensate for his father's (unfulfilled) wish for him to obtain a PhD degree at Oxford University. Although he never achieved that academic degree, he did obtain other recognitions, but in other fields, among these, I have in mind his Pulitzer Prize, for his contributions to children's literature.

Dr. Seuss fue el seudónimo que este #escritor asumió durante su juventud, como estudiante universitario, en realidad era solamente que firmaba como Seuss sus trabajos como articulista y como editor de periódico, el título de 'Dr.' lo agregó a su apodo después, en parte como una manera de compensar el anhelo (incumplido) de su padre de que obtuviera un grado de Doctor en la Universidad de Oxford. Aunque nunca alcanzó ese grado académico, sí que obtuvo otros reconocimientos, pero en otros campos, de entre estos, tengo en mente su premio Pulitzer, por sus contribuciones a la literatura infantil.

El trabajo del Dr Seuss en este campo comenzó a ser sistemático en la década de los años 50 del siglo XX, pero fue después de 1957 que se disparó completamente su popularidad, gracias a que escribió un libro destinado a responder la necesidad de un texto atractivo para estimular la lectura de los infantes. Este era un grave problema que había señalado un artículo de prensa y había mostrado que se necesitaba darle una solución.

The book in question was 'The Cat in the Hat', a 60-page book written in agile rhymes, which narrated the adventures and antics of a cat with an anthropomorphic body, a girl and her little brother, and a pair of disordered entities, called Thing 1 and Thing 2.
As far as I know, the book was very successful, as was its adaptation as a musical for the theater, but its live-action film adaptation (at the beginning of the 21st century) seems to have been poor, to the point that the widow of the Dr. Seuss (Audrey Geisel, his second wife) declared that he would no longer give permission to make another film like that. Well, I didn't see that movie, but with how well the 2000 movie had turned out, about another of its characters, in this case The Grinch, I didn't expect that the 'creative liberties' that the scriptwriters and director of the movie would take the movie would lead to this result. Anyway, I think I've said everything I wanted to share, so I better say goodbye, wishing you that you are well and that we can read again another time.

El libro en cuestión era ‘El gato en el sombrero’, un libro de 60 páginas escrito en rimas de métrica ágil, en la que se narraban las aventuras y travesuras de un gato con cuerpo antropomórfico, una niña y su hermano pequeño, y un par de entidades desordenadas, llamadas Cosa 1 y Cosa 2.
Por lo que sé, el libro fue muy exitoso, al igual que su adaptación como musical para el teatro, pero su adaptación en película de actores reales (a principios del siglo XXI) parece que no fue buena, al punto de que la viuda del Dr. Seuss (Audrey Geisel, su segunda esposa) declarara que ya no volvería a dar permiso para hacer otra película así. Bueno, no vi esa película, pero con lo bien que había resultado al del 2000, acerca de otro de sus personajes, en este caso El Grinch, no me esperaba que las ‘libertades creativas’ que se tomarían los guionistas y el director de la película llevarían a este resultado. En fin, que ya creo que he dicho todo lo que quería compartir, así que mejor me despido, deseándote que tú estés bien y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad.
