I would like to thank the management team of Traveling Steem for organising such an interesting contest. I'm delighted to participate. I also invite three of my friends to participate
@yakspeace @paholags @daprado1999

Mayali Pass 10.png Kedarnath Temple

The chota char dham includes four holy sites -Kedarnath, Yamunotri, Gangotri and Badrinath – nestled high up in the Himalayas. In ancient times people used to trek to reach all these places. One of such routes was Gangatri to Kedartnath crossing the Mayali Pass. Probably very few trackers have taken the challenge of this dangerous route. It was very interesting. We found another route starting from Ghuttu which is a small village on the banks of Bhilangana River. This route meets the other route at Mashar Tal. We just wanted to visit Kedarnath Temple at the same time to fulfill our never ending pursuit of watching Himalaya from close proximity in complete solitude and silence

It was October 1992, we six friends or friend of friends started from Howrah station for Haridwar.. We reached from Haridwar to Ghuttu in the evening. As per our earlier plan the guide was waiting for us. We just checked in at home stay. Our guide made a list for our next six days ration including kerosine. We bought all the items. We also carried some dry fruits, snaks and tinned food from kolkata. We had three tents and a kerosene stove and pressure cooker. So we required three porters along with a guide.

DAY 01:Ghuttu to Reeh (2133.6 M, 10 km)
we reached Reeh by Jeep. Journey was very smooth. We again stayed at home for the night. It is a nice village with surrounding pine trees.

Day 2: Reeh to Gangi (2590M, 12 km)
It was very clear. We were enjoying the climb in the slow gradient and then descending finally to reach Ghangi. Here we stayed at GNVM dormitory. I was accompanied by physicists who explained to me how to preserve energy and control breadth.

Day3 : Gangi to Kharsoli.(2895M, 15 km)
Camp

Mayali Pass 2.png Gangi, Bhilan Ganga, Mt. Thalaysagar

Day 4: Kharsoli to Chowki (3688 M 12 km)
There were few landslide zones on the way which is to be crossed carefully. Mt. Thalaysagar was seen at a distance. Two km before Chowki we crossed Bhilan Ganga over a temporary log bridge which is prone to get washed away each year. we experienced sunset looming on Mt. Thalaysagar. Here stayed camp.

Mayali Pass 4.pngKhatling glacier, Flower Brahma Kamal at altitudes of 3,700 to 4,600 m

Day 5:Chowki to Masartal (4572M 6.5 km)
Now we could see the Khatling glacier. After sunset, temperature dropped below zero degree. Still it was cozy place.

Day 6: Masartal to Masar-top to Vasukital (4210m) via Mayali Pass 4990m (14Km)

Mayali Pass 9.png Mayali Pass, Camp at Vasuki Tal

Next day we climbed two Km to Vasuki top (4480m) and 5 km descend to Kedarnath Temple (3530m).

Thank you for reading my post.

OMG, this trips has been over decades. How did you manage to get thee images? Did you save them some where because I know as far as 1992, there was no camera phones. I love the images though, wow you can keep memories. Now you remember your friends and the fun you had on that trip. You spent six days at that mountain, did you all sleep in a cave? because it looked like it.

We bought all the items. We also carried some dry fruits, snaks and tinned food from kolkata. We had three tents and a kerosene stove and pressure cooker. So we required three porters along with a guide.

You went fully prepared! Success to you sir!

Hello friend
Seeing the gracious pictures you dropped here showing how you enjoyed your traveling adventure is really dazzling and breath taking, Sleeping in tents! That's what I cannot do, its dangerous as wild life or reptiles can attack too. Seeing this article dropped a smile on my face, indeed pictures of memories shared is worthwhile and for posterity sake. I appreciate your efforts to making such interesting entry and also for inviting me here. Cheers
