SEC-S16W4 | Travel to Another Planet

In this era of spring renewal, I find myself pondering the fatigue that pervades me, a tiredness that might be attributed to the change of season or, perhaps, to the need to end certain chapters that have been left open for too long. Although the metaphor of doors always wide open in my dwelling doesn't accurately reflect my situation – since I intend them to be open to anyone – it serves to express the need to leave the past behind, once and for all.

This process of closure drains me, and in these moments, if I had to choose a place of escape, I would opt for the Moon. This satellite, which is not a planet, is for me a constant presence that listens to my reflections during sleepless nights and illuminates the Earth, gifting us with breathtaking landscapes.

I must admit that the idea of traveling with Elon Musk does not appeal to me at all. I consider his ventures nothing more than the follies of a too rash visionary, ready to experiment without weighing the consequences on others' lives, a character whose conduct has been shaped by an excessive privilege.

As for the possibility of living on other planets in the solar system, I see no advantage over life on Earth. However, the idea of designating other worlds to the eccentrics of Earth tickles me: imagining those billionaires obsessed with the conquest of space leaving our planet might, in a way, make it a better place for those who remain, away from their delusions of grandeur that threaten to devastate our environment. We must not forget space pollution, another folly of the technological era that sees us increasingly dependent on our mobile devices.

My ideal trip to the Moon would be shared with my loved ones, to fully savor the experience in total freedom, without the need to justify myself to anyone. Sharing this moment with them would be the only advantage I consider valid in a journey of such magnitude, away from earthly complications and immersed in a reality where the only limit is the starry sky above us.
