This is my first post in the Steem women club. I am a fitness enthusiast and I do training on daily basis. But as you all know the COVID – 19 Situation in India has deteriorated in the last month so our state government has imposed a month-long lockdown to control the infection rate hence, I am confined at my home, and gyms are closed for obvious reasons. I am continuing my workout, yoga, and meditation sessions at home and following my regular diet. Monsoon has just begun and I will now transmit common cough and cold, viral fever, or COVID-19 at worse so, to boost my immunity I regularly fetch a drink that might be useful for you beautiful ladies too.

I already had plans of sharing it but then I noticed this Healthy Drinks contest in the Steemwomen community and I couldn't get a better opportunity to share it than this. I learned this from my mother.

The drink is really easy to make and takes a minuscule amount of time to prepare. For South Asians especially Indians and Pakistanis, This is a very familiar drink as our mothers serve us this when we are suffering from mild cough and cold symptoms. It consists of a few common spices and herbs which are easily accessible in South Asian households as well as in any other part of the world.

This drink will not only help to boost your immunity but also has anti-inflammatory substances and antioxidant, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties. You can incorporate this into your daily diet for a healthier lifestyle and also serve this to your kids. They would love the taste. This drink is commonly known as Golden Milk.

So, without further adieu, let's Get into how to make it.

I am breaking it down into 3 Parts.

Ingredients, Preparation, and Serving with few important tips.


1.INGREDIENTS

Cinnamon


Clove


Cardamom


Turmeric Powder


Ginger

Turmeric powder (1 tablespoon), MILK(200ml), Cardamom(3pcs), Ginger(4 small cubes), Clove(4Pcs), Cinnamon(1 small pcs), Honey (Half-Tablespoon, you can skip this).

TIP: FOLLOW THIS MEASUREMENT WHEN PREPARING ONE SERVING ONLY. FOR MORE THAN ONE SERVING, ADJUST THE MEASUREMENT ACCORDING TO YOUR PREFERENCES.

2.PREPARATION:

first, smash the ginger cubes.
then boil the milk with Cardamom, ginger, clove, cinnamon, honey(optional)

WARNING: DON'T ADD TURMERIC POWDER AT THIS STAGE OTHERWISE THE MILK CAN CURDLE AND THE WHITE AND WATER MIGHT GET SEPARATED. AVOID IT CAUTIOUSLY.

3.SERVING:

After simmering the milk, lower the heat and put it down from the oven, and let the milk down for 3-4 minutes at least.
Before serving, add one tablespoon of turmeric powder and mix it well.

WHY YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A TRY?



I have been drinking it for the last 2 years and I can feel, it has added value to my health.

Turmeric, a thousand of years old ayurvedic medicine which is a very common spice in India, contains curcumin which has strong anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Incorporating it into a daily diet would be beneficial.
MILK contains Vitamin D and calcium which strengthens our bones. It is essential for bone health, especially for us ladies.
CINNAMON and GINGER have been proven to help reduce blood sugar levels in our system thus improving the condition of our hearts.
GINGER AND CLOVE are really great antidotes for cough and sore throat. It might give you immediate side-effect-free relief.

I would recommend taking it before bedtime as I also do the same.
