Post processing #18 - Product photography
A new stage and again beyond the task. I want specifics, so I need a little more theory and understanding of the conditions.
Product photography itself requires skills and equipment (if we talk about all the rules of commercial photography). The main goal of such shooting is to show the subject in the most advantageous way. In a word, the purpose of subject photography is to impress, to arouse a desire to buy an object or, in extreme cases, to pick it up and examine it.
Product photography is no longer just a spectacular photo, it is a marketing technique to promote a product to the market.
Therefore, in my work, I take into account two main points:
- The photograph should be contrasting and hold attention.
- In its own special way attractive.
What did our esteemed organizer mean by talking about minimalism in such a shoot? I can only guess. Most likely, it will be such a picture, and I offer it as a competitive one. Here is the original photo without processing.
The only thing I can say is that in the absence of equipment, shooting flaws are obtained. For example, like these glare from the window on the stone. They prevent the viewer from fully considering the drawing on it.
But product photography can be different, with the inclusion of the subject in the composition:
Предметная съёмка сама по себе требует навыков и оборудования (если говорить о всех правилах коммерческой съёмки). Основная цель такой съёмки - показать предмет в максимально выигрышном виде. Одним словом, цель предметной съёмки - произвести впечатление, вызвать желание купить предмет или, в крайнем случае, взять в руки и рассмотреть.
Предметная съёмка это уже не просто эффектное фото, это маркетинговый приём по продвижению товара на рынок.
Поэтому в работе учитываю два главных момента: 1. Фотография должна быть контрастной и удерживать внимание 2. По-своему особенной - привлекательной.
Что имел ввиду наш уважаемый организатор, говоря о минимализме при такой съёмке? Могу только догадываться. Скорее всего, это будет такого рода снимок, его и предлагаю в качестве конкурсного. Здесь исходное фото без обработки.
Обычно такие снимки делают для каталогов. На них нет сюжета и других деталей.
Единственное, что могу сказать, что в отсутствии оборудования получаются изъяны съёмки. Например, как эти блики от окна на камне. Они мешают зрителю полноценно рассмотреть рисунок на нём.
Но предметная съёмка может быть и другой, с включением предмета в композицию.

There is - in my opinion - no identity between subject photography and product photography (since the latter is a small part of the first), and there is therefore no junction between subject photography and the above cited (predominantly economic) purposes.
Your photos look very nice, I feel. Especially the muffin - I'd like to taste it!

To object and disagree is the right of any viewer! I'm an amateur and I'm just learning a lot, I welcome any comments.

Фото с кусочком хлеба понравилось. Но это тоно не минимализм, как и у меня всё, что я сделала, чтобы продать свой варган )).
I dare to assume that the interpretation of subject photography as a purely commercial option (for advertising and sale) unfairly narrows the scope of meanings.
Yes, subject photography is currently commercial, but is there a substitution of meanings?
IMHO a subject photograph is a photograph of a separate subject. And it doesn't matter for what. Just a separate subject is the main character, the emphasis is on it.
And as for minimalism... the subject in my understanding should be as simple as possible in form and composition in minimalism.
Something like that.
Glare from the window can be removed simply, frosted glass or tracing paper / parchment / cellophane can be placed between the window and the object. This will dissipate the harsh daylight. It may not be enough, but a tripod and a long shutter speed successfully solve the problem.
I like this greenish stone. I'm not an expert on them, what is it called?

Смею предположить, что трактовка предметной фотографии как чисто коммерческого варианта (для рекламы и продажи) незаслуженно сужает рамки смыслов.
Да, предметная фотография в настоящее время именно коммерческая, но не происходит ли подмены смыслов?
ИМХО предметная фотография - это фотография отдельного предмета. И не важно для чего. Просто отдельный предмет является главным героем, акцент на нём.
А что касается минимализма... предмет в моём понимании должен быть максимально простым по форме и композиция в минимализме.
Как-то так.
Блики от окна можно убрать просто, между окном и предметом поместить матовое стекло, либо кальку/пергамент/целлофан. Это рассеит жёсткий дневной свет. Возможно его станет мало, но штатив и длинная выдержка с успехом решают проблему.
Мне нравится этот зеленоватый камень. Я не спец по ним, как он называется?
