Sutton House
The charming house was built by Ralph Sadleir in 1535. He sold it to John Machell in 1550. Captain Milward, a silk merchant, bought the property in 1627.
Thirty years later Sutton House is run by Sarah Freeman as a school. John Cox acquires the house in 1741. Then in 1752 Sutton House is divided into two properties, Milward and Ivy House.
Charles Horton Pulley moves into Picton House (ex Ivy House) whilst Milward House is run as a girls boarding school. The local St John’s Church purchases the building in 1895 and reunites the two parts.
Forty-three years later the National Trust buys Sutton House off the church institute and rents it to a Trade Union and Hackney Council. Squatters move in and rename the property the Blue House in 1985.
The National Trust then was about to sell the house to developers who would have turned it into modern flats. The Save Sutton House Campaign is formed in 1987 which turns out to be very successful.
Restoration work begins in 1989 and then in 1994 Sutton House opens to the general public.

Hi Rusana, that was really early curation, I usually do curation of few posts in the morning to reduce Upvote Power before starting my work and it was nice to discover this beautiful post. The Sutton's house looks amazing, like someone is back in history. My favourite piece on your photos is the dress, love it and would be really keen to try how it will be looking on me :)
Thanks again for this beautiful post :)
Thank you, friend!
