Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is always on a Sunday in March. This is when you buy your mum a card and a present or maybe some flowers.
It is always the fourth Sunday of Lent. Historically it was a day when children who have moved away to work as a servant were given the day off to visit their mother and family.
For most of the year people would worship at their nearest church but it was considered important to return home once a year to visit your ‘mother’ church. This became an occasion for a family reunion and eventually evolved into Mother’s Day.
This year for my birthday I also got a sausage dog handbag that came with a very cute sausage dog, wearing a purple bow tie, of course.
Tonight is its first adventure travelling here in England. He doesn’t even have a name yet. I’ve been thinking though but any suggestions are more than welcome!
Thank you, friend!
