Genets 🐾
It’s always nice to meet someone new when travelling. Several times this July when on safari in Tanzania we were lucky to see genets.
They have many spots, mostly black and short fur. They have long legs and narrow faces. The tail has both white and black rings. Genets are usually found in dense woods at a higher altitude which get lots of rain.
It is not easy to spot genets which are nocturnal. The best place to look are the woods near Mufindi Highland Lodge: Lulanda and Calderara. Both forests are accessible by vehicle and on foot. Night walks in the outskirts of Jozani Chwaka Bay on the island of Zanzibar also offer opportunities to see genets.
