The last time I write on this topic. Why Doesn't steemcurator04-08 Vote for Me?
I recently wrote this post where I tried to explain how to get more support on this platform. However, I decided to write another post for the following reason.
Next Thursday I will be curating content in the field of gardening again. But the posts that I will support, I look for every day, preparing a list in advance. While looking for posts, I came across interesting comments. I do not want to mention who wrote them, I will only write three main ideas that I met:
- steemcurator04-08 constantly vote for the same authors.
- I mention all the team members in each post, and they don't look at my post because I'm not their friend.
- None of my posts were supported. This program does not work.
And now I will show step by step how to curate content and you will see at what step your post does not meet the rules.
Step 1. Tag.
My topic is gardening, so I first sort the posts by tag #garden. I see the following picture:
Then I look at each post on the list. I do the same with the tag #gardening and others.
If you wrote a great post about your garden, but only used the tags #steemexclusive, #venezuela and # club5050, then I'm sorry, I just couldn't find your post.
Step 2. Number of Words.
When I opened the post, the first thing that immediately catches my eye is how big the post is. Is there text in it? does the author want to tell me something? Did he make the effort to create the post? Or maybe he took 10 photos of the flower and published them all in a row and is waiting for a reward.
To be honest, at this stage I reject almost half of the posts.
Step 3. Checking for bid bots
Here everything is simple, if bid bots did not vote for your post, then with a high probability you do not use them. Also, make sure you don't use the #krsucces tag, which gives you automatic vote.
Step 4. Checking Club Status.
When I checked the club status of one of the "dissatisfied", I saw this:
He will have to ask for a vote for a long time, because he does not meet the requirements of any club.
At the same stage, I check to see if you have a outgoing delegations to bid bots.
Step 5. I'm Checking to See If We've Already Voted for This Author
Our team has a rule, we do not vote for one author more than twice a week. Therefore, the accusations that steemcurator04-08 vote only for a certain group of authors are baseless. But if one author wrote two good posts according to all the rules, and the other one post, in which he exhibited only a photo of a banana, I will vote twice for the first author and never for the second.
Step 6. Uniqueness Check
Whether or not you use the #steemexclusive tag, curators check each post for uniqueness. To do this, they can use different services, or can simply enter part of the text in Google search, using quotation marks.
How I check for uniqueness I will not tell you :)
Step 7. Reading the Post
Only after everything I've done I'm starting to read the post. If it is written in a language unfamiliar to me, I use a translator, but I still read the post.
At this stage, you can find the following:
And this rice comes from rice, rice comes from rice.
Even if you followed all the rules, but wrote a mixture of words, I will not support your post.
Now you can go through all the stages and see which of them your post could not overcome.
This is a great guide to people who do not get curation or people who complain about not getting curated.
My question is, when you click on the gardening tag at a particular moment do you go through each and every post and then choose the top top or you simply check and get the number that you wanna vote and then you are gone.
I have never been able to choose so many posts that I have had enough. So when I look at all the posts on gardening in the last 5 days, I move on to health, if I still don't have enough, then I move on to the general topic of "lifestyle".
Thats great. I think the way in which you do your curation is really good. When my posts passes a 3 day window i loose because most curators only look out for post whithin the 24 hour window.
As you can see, there are a lot of requirements, so in order to find content that would meet all these requirements, you have to look at the posts for the last 6.5 days. But even then I don't have enough posts to spend all the necessary voting power.
Thats quite surprising. I think the hype around the curator team and the tags has gone done. In the first 2 months there are a lot of entries as people were seen to be using the tags. It looks like now people do not really post using the tags or the ones who use them are either not in the various clubs or are not up to quality.
There are people who follow the rules honestly and use tags correctly. But we cannot support the same people all the time. This raises suspicions of abuse.
That's true, I am sure for your team you have a policy of only upvoting a user twice a week.
I follow the same methodology as @o1eh but have never thought to write it down. It seems crazy to think that actually reading a post is in "Step 7".
I review posts up to the 12 hours before payout when the returns start significantly diminishing so anything up to 6.5 days old will still get my vote.
I originally thought I'd follow the idea of finding all of the posts that fit the criteria and then voting for them all at the end of the day. Today, there were 4 posts and then I had to start looking at other non-sports tags. You wouldn't believe it would you??
We never know until we are told right 😂
😮😮 Thats really surprising. Can we attribute this to the fact that the main sports communities are powering down thus users do not feel the need to post in those communities anymore cause they wouldn't get support?
I made a football post in the worldoffootball community a few days ago but it has since gotten lotyle support; I think this is because they are also powering down their curation account hence curators are hesitant to support users in that community 🤔
I don't know how I missed your post! But it does highlight another problem with curating sports within a lot of communities... most of the posts now are contest entries. Normally a prediction and each prediction gets its own post which hides the content which isn't a contest. 9 out of 10 of the most recent posts are contest entries and most of the time, they're not something that are curation worthy.
I didn't realise that World Of Football had powered down too - it's stopped now but 50% of its power has gone.
Yep, it looks like people find it easier to make contest entry post than tk actually write sports related posts. Am sure this can be attributed to the fact with contests they are sure of rewards but with the football posts which are not high quality iys 50/50.
And am surprised my post was not seen😄. Can this be that the positioning of fhe sports tag might be the problem.( like making the sports tag first or second tag)
Opps😬🤭 I just snitched on the admin of worldoffootball.
I taught that was the reason my post was not curated. I checked the last posts in that community and i saw that they were not curated so i thought that was it.🤣
I'm not sure 🤷🏼♂️ I would normally scroll through the posts within World of Football, Steem Sports, etc. as well as searching for tags so I think that I just missed it amongst all of the "Concurso"!
It looks like they powered down 50% of the account and I can see steem.sports has gone due to "lack of support". Which should be expected when booming support is abused.
It gives me more optimism for WOX Sports though - it might be slow to grow but if we get a quality group of people like we've got for the Fantasy Sports contests then it'll be worthwhile.
Thank you for standing up for the curators! I can only ditto what you have written. It is indeed no easy task and take LOTS of time! BUT, I also find it rewarding. It makes me feel good when I can give that support.
One of the biggest problems I encounter is the word count for competitions. Most of the competitions only expect a word count of 200 where as curators we look for at least 300+. Please never write a post with less than this. Trust me, I've learned the hard way.
Next is CSI. If you don't play it forward you not going to get my vote.
Lastly, I also check the level of the author for the reason that I am looking for those newbies as they deserve the upvote as much as the 60+
The are so many articles with good information, good markdown style and excellent photos which just just fall short. Don't let it be yours.
Good luck for that next post!
Thank you for sharing your approach. Too short posts are indeed very common. Sometimes it's one sentence and ten photos. Apparently laziness does not allow to write more.
As my power's increased and now that I'm one of the curators, I get an ever increasing number of mentions. Then I open the post and there's either a random tag of my name without any context or somebody saying "special thanks". It's not really the interaction or engagement I'm looking for so I tend to ignore them - knowing that if the content's good and uses appropriate tags, I'll find it anyway.
I'd even prefer it if they say "@the-gorilla, please give me a 100% upvote with the steemcurator account" and then I'll at least have something to work with.
I was often mentioned when I started publishing the magazine. When I became a curator, there were many more mentions. As a result, I no longer look at notifications, so I may miss something important.
I also ignore these mentions. I am convinced that quality content will find its curator.
My "Replies" tab is my starting point now as opposed to "Notifications". I still look at "Mentions" but that tab doesn't include all of them. If you look at "Mentions" on steemworld.org, there are often a lot which don't appear in the Notifications feed - possibly because they've mentioned too many people 😅
🤔
I also wish people wrote more than this in their food posts.. I ate this for breakfast, I ate this for lunch, I ate this for dinner. The End.
By the way, some authors can write very well about food. I love when @petface writes about food, but her posts should be read after a good lunch.
Thanks for the mention. Food is one of my favourite topics to write about. I plant to go live with a yummy Easter post this Sunday featuring our homemade festive meal so keep an eye out. Cheers and have a wonderful day.
Haha, I love it to know you in the same team! I just do not need to write about stuff that bothers me since ages… 😉
I can assume that once you tried to write something like that, and then you stopped doing nonsense and focused on your wonderful community 🙂
I particularly enjoyed today's example of gibberish...
"I love Roger" in the middle of a sentence where they've said how much they love today 4 times. I'm still waiting to find out who or what Roger is.
@o1eh - I remember this one 😆
Yes, this is your find and it is perfect for illustrating what I wanted to say. I have come across many similar formulations of opinions, but this one is just great 😃
I don't know what you have against Roger - he's such a nice guy!
By the way, potatoes also grow from potatoes...
I used potatoes to grow potatoes. I plan to do the same thing this year and hopefully I'll get lots

Good morning. What a useful step by step guide this is and I thank you for taking the time to put it together. I find such articles very useful as I am learning every day about the potential of this platform and what is best to do here. I think that every author should go through the steps you pointed out. It can be annoying if users tag the whole curation team in each of their posts just for the sake of getting extra attention. I did try to find some deep meaning in the rice quote but I couldn’t 😂 You are doing a great job ensuring that more articles get supported here on Steemit.
Haha, your posts are already perfect. It is difficult for me to imagine that any of your posts were left without support. You recently wrote a post on the subject of gardening, I am currently curating this topic. I was so happy, I wrote it down. But my curation day is tomorrow. I'm watching today, and my team has already voted for it. This illustrates how curators hunt for quality content.
Привет. Я в принципе с тобой согласен, кроме бит ботов. А остальное всё можно скрыть.
Thanks for sharing tips. This is help in betterment of the posts
