Another Visit to the Carpathians
I have already written a lot about the Carpathians. I can't do anything about it. I really like mountains and I live close enough to them.
This time I did not go to the mountains to pick mushrooms or berries. This time I was helping a friend. He showed the beauty of the Carpathians to people from Eastern Ukraine who were forced to leave everything and save themselves, as well as start life anew in unfamiliar cities. He wanted to distract them from everyday problems with a short one-day trip.
We arrived by minibus. We didn't have the goal of conquering any peak, so we just stopped on the side of the road and went up. Having climbed 300 meters, we met such a handsome horse that grazed peacefully and even allowed itself to be petted.
We were lucky with the weather, sometimes clouds covered the sky, sometimes the warm sun came out.
Somehow, I got used to the fact that when going to the mountains, I have to cover long distances. Therefore, I confidently stepped forward. But this time there was really no such need. Therefore, noticing that my companions were tired, we made a short halt, choosing a place with a good view. Actually, it was not difficult, here any place has a beautiful view.
After the stop, we decided to build our route in a circle to eventually get out to the minibus. Almost all of my companions were in the mountains for the first time, but I must admit that, despite the fatigue, they kept up the walking pace very well.
We planned to make one more stop, light a fire. But time was constantly running away from us. Therefore, we had to abandon this idea, shorten the route and go in the direction of our transport.
On the way, my companions asked me what kind of bushes we kept coming across. It was a juniper. I told them about this bush and its healing properties. Once upon a time in the Carpathians, people treated tuberculosis by placing patients in thickets of juniper.
Finally, near a stream that overflows a lot after every rain, we met wild pigs. In fact, we were much further from them, so we had to take pictures with zoom. It was luck.
We got to the minibus three hours before it got dark. We had enough time to get home.
There was nothing special about this trip. But I wanted to show you once again the beauty of nature, the beauty of the mountains, the beauty of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
Thank you for visiting my post. Have a nice day!
I know the Carpathians on the Romanian side and there too they are beautiful, untouched and almost devoid of people... There are both wolves and bears there - I can imagine that you were quite happy to have seen only wild boars? They seem pretty meagre to me, though. Not such a good year for the animals either...?
The Ukrainian part of the Carpathians is lower and more populated. Accordingly, there are fewer animals here. But everything changes as we approach the Romanian border.
It is not so easy to meet bears in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Wolves are more frequent guests, especially in winter, when they come close to villages due to hunger.
The boars in the photo are really not big. I think they are not adults. We decided not to approach for safety reasons. If their mother was there, she would definitely attack us.
Once I climbed the Marmarosa mountain range. Most of this mountain range passes through the territory of Romania. But part of it is also located on Ukrainian territory. That's where I went and saw what you described. This is an almost completely untouched territory. Even the border between the countries could not be laid clearly there. I accidentally crossed it by a few meters. So, it can be considered that I visited Romania.
Now that's funny: I've never heard of the Marmarosa mountain range. I didn't find anything on Google either - only when I went to the Romanian version of Wikipedia. I couldn't read it, but according to the translator they describe this mountain range.
I think in German-speaking countries it is considered part of the Carpathians...? No idea - in any case, it seems to look like what I'm always looking for when I'm on the road. And now I'm standing there with no holiday left.... ;-((
Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not have an article in English or German about this mountain range. But there is Ukrainian, Romanian and Russian. If I am not mistaken, you wrote that you know the Russian language. But the Russian version is short: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%BC%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%88%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D0%BC%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B8%D0%B2
Thank you! That explains: yes, this massif is part of the Carpathians. In this country we just don't name it separately. And this is exactly the area I know ;-)) I was in the Marmarosa without knowing it!
I can read and see this post again and not get tired, so you can keep posting about this wonderful place, at least you will have my answers, it is great that you are with your friends contemplating nature, nothing like being outdoors and breathing fresh air, I think you should go back with them, for me it was magical, nature relaxes you, you forget those bitter moments and dark thoughts.
What a good horse and the wild boars I'm a little terrified of how they run ha ha.
Greetings and successes.
Thank you, I will definitely write about the mountains again, because I am sure that I will visit them more than once. I live near the Carpathians.
I also love nature. Sometimes I stay overnight in a tent during a hike, although I can't sleep then :)
