The World of XPILAR - CITYSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK - A view of the Al Alam Palace of Muscat
The Al Alam Palace is one of the six residence of the king of Oman. There was an already existing old palace and in the early 70s it was rebuilt as the Royal residence. No one can enter inside the palace and it can be seen only from the outside. One of my friend works for the Company who does the maintenance work of the palace and hence he has an entry into the Palace for works. He tells us stories of what the place is from the inside. It seems that all the fittings, fixtures and accessories in the palace has a gold finish. The design inside and outside is very elegant and definitely looks like a Royal house. This particular palace is majorly used for Royal ceremonies and hosting the guests. While the other 5 palaces have a huge boundary wall and one cannot even get a glimpse of what it looks from outside, this one gives access to the outside of the Palace for the Tourists.

This is the opposite side of the Palace. Where there is a Museum. During Festivals, this whole place gets lit up with colorful lights and it is a good sight to watch.
