The term reflection has different meanings in the Spanish language.

In the first place, a reflection is an optical phenomenon where light rays hit a surface, deviating and returning to the place or medium from which they came out. In this sense, people or objects can be reflected in a mirror, on the surface of water or some very shiny material.

On the other hand, the reflection can be an involuntary response to an external stimulus, such as when a doctor lightly hits a patient's knee with a rubber hammer, or the dilation of the pupils in the presence of light. Also, this term refers to a person's ability to react quickly and efficiently, for example, if he or she finds himself or herself in a situation where his or her mental or physical integrity is in danger.

Finally, the Spanish word "reflexión" refers to a thought process in which something is carefully considered in order to seek explanations or causes. Within this meaning, personal introspection would be included.

For this new initiative by @bambuka from the World of Xpilar Community, all participants in this new invitation are asked to take or select a photograph of themselves showing a "reflection", whatever this means in a language other than English, or for each participant.

Despite the amazing technological advances that humanity has experienced in recent times, I do not know if there is any device capable of photographing with fidelity and high precision the internal thoughts, beyond the various studies that have made prestigious institutions to measure brain waves in the presence of external stimuli, so I will take as the subject of this initiative, the first meaning of the term reflection.

El término reflejo posee diferentes acepciones o significados en el idioma español.

En primer lugar, un reflejo es un fenómeno óptico donde los los rayos de luz chocan con una superficie, desviándose y regresando al lugar o medio del cual salieron. En este sentido, las personas u objetos pueden reflejarse en un espejo, en la superficie del agua o de algún material muy brillante.

Por otra parte, el reflejo puede ser una respuesta involuntaria frente a un estímulo exterior, como cuando un médico golpea ligeramente con un martillo de goma la rodilla de un paciente, o la dilatación de las pupilas ante la presencia de la luz. También, este término alude a la capacidad que posee una persona para reaccionar de forma rápida y eficiente, por ejemplo, si se encuentra en una situación donde su integridad mental o física corre peligro.

Finalmente, la palabra en idioma español, "reflexión", hace referencia a un proceso de pensamiento donde se considera algo con detenimiento, con la finalidad de buscar explicaciones o causas. Dentro de esta acepción, entraría la introspección personal.

Para esta nueva iniciativa del compañero @bambuka de la Comunidad World of Xpilar, se nos solicita a todos los participantes en esta nueva invitación, tomar o seleccionar una fotografía propia donde se muestre un "reflejo", cualquiera que sea lo que esto signifique en un idioma diferente al inglés, o para cada participante.

A pesar de los sorprendentes avances tecnológicos que ha experimentado la humanidad en los últimos tiempos, desconozco si existe algún dispositivo capaz de fotografiar con fidelidad y alta precisión los pensamientos internos, más allá de los diversos estudios que han realizado prestigiosas instituciones para medir las ondas cerebrales ante la presencia de estímulos externos; por lo que tomaré como objeto de esta iniciativa, la primera acepción del término reflejo.

A few months ago, I visited an urban park located a short distance from my home, after seeing images on social networks, mainly Instagram, that the artificial lagoon had been repaired and put into operation, reason for which, they had shared photos showing the reflection of the vegetation and nearby buildings on the water surface.

On that occasion, I took some photos similar to the ones I had seen on the networks, besides enjoying the tour full of nature even in the middle of the chaos of the city. Since then, I have been there several times, however, I have not been able to recreate the images again because the water surface has not been sufficiently calm, either because the wind was blowing strongly, or, they were in the work of water recirculation to prevent the growth of algae or bacteria that produce bad odor.

Hace algunos meses, visité un parque urbano situado a corta distancia de mi hogar, luego de ver imágenes en las redes sociales, principalmente Instagram, que la laguna artificial había sido reparada y puesta en funcionamiento, razón por la cual, habían compartido fotos mostrando el reflejo de la vegetación y las edificaciones cercanas sobre la superficie del agua.

En aquella oportunidad, tomé algunas fotos similares a las que había visto en las redes, además de disfrutar del recorrido pleno de naturaleza aún en medio del caos citadino. Desde entonces, he acudido en varias ocasiones, sin embargo, no he podido recrear nuevamente las imágenes porque la superficie del agua no ha estado lo suficientemente calmada, bien sea, porque el viento soplaba con gran fuerza, o, se encontraban en labores de recirculación del agua para evitar el crecimiento de algas o bacterias que produzcan mal olor.
