As I described in the previous post, a still life photograph is a photographic genre where traditionally objects or a collection of inanimate objects are photographed.

In this genre, in contrast to others, the arrangement of the elements in the graphic composition and the framing, together with the lighting, are the fundamental parameters to achieve a good image.

Although the elements usually used in still life photography are flowers, food and objects that are usually found on a desk, however, it is not necessarily limited only to those mentioned above.

For this new initiative by @bambuka from the World of Xpilar Community, take an image framed within this photographic genre and describe the creative process. However, on this occasion, a "symbol" must be present, and where the rest of the participants must try to describe it in the comments.

In this sense, I looked for objects in my house that could represent a symbol, without being excessively graphic or descriptive, but enough to be identified.

As has been customary for me in this initiative since I began to take part in it, some time ago; I am rarely satisfied with the results I get, so I have to substitute the elements, place them in another position, etc., until I achieve something that resembles what I had in mind from the beginning.

Como describí en el post anterior, una fotografía de bodegón o de naturaleza muerta, conocida en inglés como "still life", es un género fotográfico donde tradicionalmente se fotografian objetos o una colección de objetos inanimados.

En este género, en contraste con otros, la disposición de los elementos en la composición gráfica y el encuadre, junto a la iluminación, son los parámetros fundamentales para lograr una buena imagen.

Aunque los elementos usualmente empleados en la fotografía still life, son las flores, los alimentos y los objetos que usualmente se consiguen en un escritorio, sin embargo, no necesariamente se limita únicamente a los anteriormente mencionados.

Para esta nueva iniciativa del compañero @bambuka de la Comunidad World of Xpilar, se nos solicita a todos los participantes, tomar una imagen enmarcada dentro de este género fotográfico y describir el proceso creativo. Sin embargo, en esta ocasión, debe estar presente un "símbolo", y donde el resto de los participantes, deben tratar de describirlo en los comentarios.

En este sentido, busqué dentro de mi casa objetos que pudieran representar algún símbología, sin ser excesivamente gráfico o descriptivo, pero sí lo suficiente para ser identificado.

Como ha sido costumbre para mí en esta iniciativa desde que comencé a tomar parte en ella, hace algún tiempo atrás; rara vez me encuentro satisfecho con los resultados que obtengo, por lo que debo sustituir los elementos, ubicarlos en otra posición, etc., hasta lograr algo que se parezca a lo que tenía en mente desde un principio.

Finally, after a continuous process of trial and error, I decided to choose a photograph to process, seeking to enhance it by modifying the parameters of brightness, lighting, contrast, saturation and sharpness, so as to frame it within this photographic genre, and trying to preserve the chosen symbology.

Finalmente, luego de un contínuo proceso de ensayo y error, decidí escoger una fotografía para procesarla, buscando realzarla al modificar los parámetros de brillo, iluminación, contraste, saturación y nitidez, de manera de enmarcarla dentro de este género fotográfico, y tratando de preservar la simbología escogida.

Personally, I really liked this week's assignment, I don't usually use this genre, I particularly prefer urban, architectural, landscape or portrait photography, but sometimes it is necessary to live experiences out of the comfort zone.

On the other hand, the symbol I chose I think is easily recognizable, and there should be no reason why it can't be identified in a short time.

En lo personal, me agradó mucho la asignación de esta semana, no acostumbro a usar este género, prefiero particularmente la fotografía urbana, arquitectónica, paisajística o de retratos, pero en ocasiones es necesario vivir experiencias fuera de la zona de confort.

Por otra parte, el símbolo que escogí creo que es fácilmente reconocible, y no deberían existir razones para que no pueda ser identificado en poco tiempo.
