The human face in profile view / El rostro humano en vista de perfil - (#club100)

These basic rules are the starting point for drawing a face in profile view.
Las mismas relaciones que hemos estudiado para el rostro visto de frente también son válidas para el rostro humano de perfil.
Estas reglas básicas son el punto de partida para dibujar una cara en la vista de perfil.
In this drawing we compare the front view (1 and 2) and its corresponding profile view (3)
En este dibujo comparamos la vista frontal (1 y 2) y su correspondiente vista de perfil (3)
We can divide the skull into three to determine the width of the eyebrow and the position of the ear. Also note the correspondence between the nose and lips with the location and width of the eye.
Podemos dividir el cráneo en tres para determinar el ancho de la ceja y la posición de la oreja. También tenga en cuenta la correspondencia entre la nariz y los labios con la ubicación y el ancho del ojo.
With these basic rules of proportions for the human face, we can now practice internalizing the relative positions of the elements that make up the face from the front and in profile before considering more interesting views such as 3/4, foreshortening, or perspective.

Always keep in mind that these are just basic guidelines that will allow you to successfully solve some problems when drawing a face, with or without a model.
The next step is simply to do a lot of exercises.

I remember that drawing a face from the side sometimes makes the face too narrow. Especially when sketching it is not very obvious, but when then applying shadowing to show the bony prominence it is then obvious that proportions are not correct. Very well explained. I like the way how you made the correspondence between the face frontal and side.

An interesting example, the profile seems much larger... this is to the question of illusions :)

Apparently this illusion is created by the relief, which is more visible in profile. If you remove the red lines, the illusion persists :)
