Hiroshima is where the first atomic bomb was dropped on Japan. This was happened during World War II. On August 6, 1945, the American air force dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan. The atomic bomb was designed to exploded 600 meters above Hiroshima. The explosion and the associated heat wave destroyed the entire city in an instant, and the few well-built buildings were left with partial destruction.
After the second world war ended , buildings in Hiroshima were demolished as part of the reconstruction process.
Only one building left without demolishing is called The Atomic Bomb Dome . This building was designed by Jan Letzel a Czech engineer, And the construction of the building finished in April 1915 and the building was opened to the public in 1921, at that time it was called Hiroshima Prefectural Commercial Exhibition .
The Atomic Bomb Dome building became the symbol of the Hiroshima disaster and is still there today. the area near the atomic bomb dome is called the Ground Zero.
Today, Hiroshima is a prosperous city, living without the destruction that happened there seventy years ago.
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is located in the heart of the city and invites visitors from all over the world to pay tribute to the victims of the Hiroshima atomic bomb.
