Weekly Contest: Photographing Flowers Week #7

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago

It was after breakfast, a slow walk through the community garden. The morning rain has chilled the winds and wetted the vegetation.

I saw these beautiful flowers, which I later learnt are called Ruellia simplex. Part of the Acanthaceae family.

Acanthaceae, one of 24 families in the mint order (Lamiales) of flowering plants, containing approximately 220 genera and nearly 4,000 species distributed predominantly in tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
Britannica

Though beautiful, they are a very common landscaping plant here, in the tropics. So I tried to find something that would make them a little more interesting. Something that would spruce them up. Like a man's tie, or a lady's handbag.

Then with a little patience, I saw some other earthly creatures are also up and having their breakfast. The humble, diligent ants and out harvesting the nectar.

Since this is the digital edge where many are posting their dining images, I felt it would be nice to showcase images of these little diners.

While these little creepy crawlies are inconspicuous, they exhibited exemplary diligence and commitment to their colony.

Hopefully, these images will not only allow the appreciation of the pretty flora; but also remind fellow humans of the good old fashion virtue of hard work.
