How political corruption goes so active after natural diluvium happens in my country which is a horrid reality

Natural disaster coming from the atmosphere above is more prominent here in my country and corrupt officials here in my country takes advantage from it by campaigning early by giving out "assistance" in the form of money and basic good donation while other officials pockets the money which should be given to people if not pulling out sugar, coffee, and other valuable relief goods which should also belong to the affected people when there is a deluge event.

I am glad that the first Typhoon or Tropical storm as the weather bureau had called it because of its weaker strength had passed in my province without so much devastation leaving behind for the reason that it doesn't bring much rain. All we have was an all-day low intensity rain yesterday until maybe today and it is a good news because at least it didn't cause much inconveniences to people but only gave some road users a caution to mind the slippery roads caused by trickling rain which was pouring continuously since yesterday at the time of this writing. It is nice that the plants and trees plus the crops of the farmers experienced a good watering not to mention a good cleaning for everybody's roofing as the rain washes them down although the rain is again not that heavy like we experience during a thunderstorm. With regards to temperatures, it did cooled down the temperatures which prompted me in using a blanket which I refused to use of course from the last couple of months or so because of the extreme heat which actually experienced by other southeast Asian countries around including India. But Typhoons are very, very prevalent particularly in my country where sometimes it is powerful enough to pass-by our country to either hit or miss it to cause destruction in countries like Taiwan and also in China and wreck havoc there causing so much damage in properties and the lives of people. Normally we get more than a dozen typhoon visits per year and these typhoons vary in strength where some are only bring strong winds but with a momentary fall of light rains while some are not that strong but is plump with heavy clouds which causes so much flooding that it pauses human activity in our locality plus the effect on our local economy as well especially if food traders and retailers abuse the price of their good citing that the cause of transportation had gone-up in the process.

I wish that the government can just help people directly by putting financial assistance through every households bank account for the reason to avoid the reverse trickling corruption which happens when assistance given from the top level government officials get scalped when it passes down to lower tier government bodies which causes the receiving end, the poor people to get less assistance than they should particularly in cases where money is given during calamitous times here in my country.

During such calamitous events like when a destructive Typhoon passes-by, the provincial and municipal government tries to appease every household by giving them "relief goods" which are packed foods that requires no cooking like canned goods like sardines and meatloaf in can or probably corned beef although it is seldom given and then foods which are basic like rice and noodle soup packs, milk, 3 in 1 coffee, and other food items depending on the budget of the national and provincial government. The municipal government are just distributors of the "relief goods" which they also distribute to the smallest government unit we call "Barangay". The municipality is made out of these Barangays and an equivalent of a County in the US. Now, depending on the level of corruption especially coming from the local barangay unit and its affiliation to the municipal government because Barangay leader and its councilors can rob its constituents by just taking some of the food items including cash if any was given from the Municipal government plus if the Municipal government would only give less to a specific Barangay because the Mayor had lost from the last election from that barangay, then the barangay and its people will not receive like what the other Barangay received all because of politics. So when it comes to government assistance I am not anymore seeing it as purely done out of good heart, good intention, and with good faith because of the injustice being experienced by the end-receivers, the constituents because they are being robbed in the process due to the rampant and open level of corruption and politicking from these two level of government units alone which should not be the case, but so sadly it is now a normal occurrence due to loss of natural human values and greed where some barangay official like the councilors are proud of doing it because it is in their power and their time to "shine", a kind of light coming from Lucifer. In turn, the "affected" or unfavored people from this common corruption problem does next is that they will just not vote the candidates or the current ruling Mayor if not all of his/her slate out of office when the next election comes regardless of what he/she had done to the Town and the same happens to the local barangay leaders so that at least they will be again favored especially if the seek help or if there are times that some assistance will be given from the Municipal government especially of the Barangay council will not be that corrupt although this smallest government unit is just commonly brutal in terms of its level of corruption and directly affects all people no matter what sector you belong with like being a handicapped or a senior citizen you are a fair game to these kind of heartless so-called leaders although nit all barangay council are corrupt in that regard but again their aim to be a leader of the Barangay is to have power and money as their number one mission in campaigning in the first place to be honest.

Politicians are taking advantage of the situation when there are calamities and "they" (money coming from the government) have to help people through many forms of assistance by making their constituents or the people that the govern feel indebted when such politicians helps them out. Other politicians just shamefacedly take some if not all which should go to people in the first place. It is so bad because it would happen during the times which people are more vulnerable while some are just dependent on government assistance and yet they are being cheated again and again although sometimes choosing a good politician is not really an option anymore because most of them does the same with only difference was the face seated if not also politicizing people which didn't vote for them.

It is sad to realize that corruption gets so active in times of tragedy particularly when a deluge would happen considering that my country alone is situated in a place called the Pacific ring of fire which causes earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Although both calamities are seldom to happen but if they do they can cause great destruction just like when Mount Pinatubo had erupted during the early 90's it destroyed lots of places in both industrial and business sectors, agricultural, and residential areas where even the US base in the province beside our province had shut down and abandoned because it literally got destroyed by basically falling sand from the aforementioned volcano which is situated in the province of Pampanga which is located beside our own province where I live. Mount Pinatubo as its name describes it to be was not really a mountain but a volcano. No one really expects it to blow suddenly nor people are aware that it is a volcano until it blew a large cloud of ashes, sand, stone, and rocks so high up in the air that even some neighboring countries was affected by falling sand into some of their areas as shown in the news during that time when I was still young in the early 90's. Mount Pinatubo has been so dormant that people had began to name it as a mountain and the name stuck until this day. Now it has a beautiful lake in its mouth and is made as a tourist attraction for many people especially trekkers, mountaineer, or adventure-oriented groups such as 4-wheek drive vehicle enthusiasts and also foreigners just to see the naturally-made majestic site on top of the mountain. Also, the province of Pampanga had made use of the tons of pumice sand which was a "Lahar" before which Mount Pinatubo had blown out everywhere when it erupted, so in hindsight at least the government of Pampanga is benefiting from these pumice sand although I doubt that the profit will go to the coffers of that province because once again, corruption is quite rampant in this country alone.

The nearest Volcano from my place is Mt. Pinatubo, in-fact when it erupted I saw a wall of mountainous ash, rocks, sands, and other debris when it erupted, a beautiful sight to behold but afterwards the destruction it brought to the people below and near it is quite heart-breaking. Now its is transformed into a hiking destination because of the lake which was formed from its top or mouth. It is predicted to erupt again after many hundreds or thousands of years but we will never know and if it does, it will cause many tears to be shed again.

My country also have to contend with earthquakes because again we are in the place where the ground is actively moving because of the geologic activity down below where sometimes it has too relive some pressure with the shifting "tectonic plates" which causes these momentary shaking of the ground. Many people greatly fear even with a not so destructive earthquakes because it is quite seldom to happen but if a "big one" did happen then there is no telling if you will be safe or not because strong earthquakes are known for their great effect like what happened in Turkey and more particularly to the country of Haiti which has a less capacity to cope of what a major earthquake had done to its people and its weak economy. Anyway, my country is just keeping afloat because of the dollar remittances of millions of Filipino workers ranging from the highly-skilled to a common factory worker and it had made a great difference in our local economy. That is the reason why our countrymen are calling overseas workers as "Unsung heroes" because of their great impact to the overall lives of the citizen here because of their income. had it not been from the sacrifices of these overseas workers then our economy had been long destroyed because of the corruption in the government.

Overseas workers from my country are indirectly fighting the effects and result of corruption by supporting our economy by sending their remittances to their families which makes them a special hero in that regard. However our national economy will just continue to struggle no matter what the government does because of additional external factors such as inflation, so unless we can have more resource to patch our financial needs to make this nation more stronger and developed my countrymen will just continue to look for a greener pasture elsewhere which also has pros and cons of its own particularly to the lives and family of these professionals and non-professionals leaving their families behind and then not being physically and emotionally with them when their children for example needs them most in some instances and then estrangement happens on top of a less discussed problem which is infidelity (not all) when an overseas worker while being away from his/her spouse begins to feel homesick and "sexually lonely" because of the length of time they would work outside the country.
