"Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller."

  • Ibn Battuta

Greetings the fellow people of Steemit and the WOX Community and light and resting Sunday!

Today I’m gonna be playing photographer and a storyteller, cuz the places i managed to dug up from my library will probably catch your attention. Don’t expect it to be warm this time, but kinda foggy and rainy, but still exquisite - Northern Italy. 😄

Anyway let’s start shall we?

Beyond the Surface

The first place is called Lake Como or as in Italian Lago Di Como which is a place surrounded by lush hillsides, elegant villas and cold charming vibes. I don’t have a photo, but the lake is shaped like an inverted Y and it’s one of the deepest lakes in Europe.

It’s not very far from Milan, cuz we landed in the Milan via plane then mixed our trip with train and then ferry. These were a long 60 kilometres from Milan to Como, but were enjoyable, cuz we decided to just enjoy the ride.

The place felt overall very charming full of old buildings and yeah I understand that this is probably one of the most enchanting destinations, nestled in the foothills of the Alps, but the whole place felt kinda unremarkable and let me explain what i mean by that.

Well at first sight yeah it’s very beautiful with its old vibe architecture and quiet town vibes, but i think that this was the point I’m trying to make. I’m young and i still love to explore the world, but this place with so many tourists and beauty felt like a ghost town.

It’s either a town for elders or it’s a town where you want to fake your death and vanish there. I don’t know it feels like a place where if i stay more than two days i would go crazy, it’s just too peaceful. Beautiful especially at night, but too quiet, well it’s northern Italy after all and it’s kinda cold what should i have expected right? 😄

Echoes of the Past

No worries i left the best part for the second part of the post, which is a very charming town that’s not very far from Lake Como. Expect this part to have more material and cityscapes. I present to you the town Bergamo La Citta Alta or as translated Upper Town?

I think it was like that, but let’s call it Bergamo. It’s like one hour drive from Como and this is something else.

It’s full of Medieval Architecture and when i mean full i felt like i was in some of the Assassins Creed games, just upgraded a lil bit for modern citizens. This is the Bergamo Cathedral which as far as i remember dates back to 15th century. Anyway as you saw on the first photo of this chapter the streets are somewhat embellished half by the architecture of the city and half by its people. Well the streets were also shining, cuz remember that it was like right on or a little after New Year’s Eve.

Sentinels of History

You know i was really wondering if i should make a 3rd Chapter of this post, cuz its still in the last part of it and we’re still in Bergamo, but for a views like these i said why not?

This is the Venetian Wall which is a defence system surrounding the whole town. It was built in 16th century under Venetian rule and the idea was to fortify the city against invaders and attacks. The whole wall i long i think like 6km and it’s protected by UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Now i have a clip thats around 17 seconds long showing the panoramic views of Bergamo and its surrounding countryside, but i have to cut it so much on little parts and then make it into GIFs which god knows if they will match with the site’s requirements so i did the following. I cut the video on different photos so you can enjoy it as a gallery. We are gonna start from left to right on the top of the walls that if i remember right were called “Mura Venete”. Enjoy 😄

So this is the end of the post, i hope you enjoyed it, especially the views, cuz as i said i saved the best for last and impressive example of Renaissance fortification. See ya around till next time! 👋🏻😄
