Time and patience.

Time and patience.

I don't know if patience depends on time, or time on patience, but I do know that often, I lack both, lol.

Yes, I'm filled with a certain envy for people who have the patience for long experiments, or, for example, who can devote several years to working on a drawing. That's not the case with me; everything has to be done quickly, in the shortest possible time.

Even when I go mushroom picking in the forest, or when I used to go hunting, I tried to get what I wanted as quickly as possible and return home with my catch. Being quick didn't always mean the quality was low, but patience is something you need to learn, although sometimes it's hard to tell whether patience is justified or not.

In mushroom growing, patience is also a valuable asset. It's one thing to wait a month for an oyster mushroom harvest, but it's quite another to succumb to the temptation to grow wild mushrooms in your own garden. Producers of such mushroom mycelium claim you'll have to wait about four years, which is a hefty wait. Although, if you plant a fruit tree seedling, you'll have to wait the same amount of time for a harvest. Trees are understandable, but mushrooms are.

Furthermore, some renowned mycologists claim that wild mushroom mycelium, for which you'll pay a pretty penny, is a scam, as each mushroom species has its own unique relationships, connections, and symbioses with forest vegetation, making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to achieve in a garden plot.

That's why I try to treat many experiments like a cake: eat it, enjoy it, and move on :)

Yes, patience is not everyone's cup of tea.

I recently heard the saying, “My peace of mind is sacred to me; only fools are in a hurry.”

The trick is not to confuse patience with laziness.

I have to disagree with this statement, but with some caveats :)
I'm also a fan of catchphrases, but I also like to twist them like a Rubik's cube. Often, these phrases, which sound like axioms consisting of several equations, completely ignore the fact that these equations can contain many variables and no constants to rely on. These phrases are only suitable for certain situations, under ideal experimental conditions :)

For example, a very patient but trusting person who trusted false information, like the one I mentioned about growing wild mushrooms, and then got no results after a long time, could turn out to be a fool. Or, in any other field, there are many charlatans whom people follow.

Yes, I agree with you. And I already thought that my comment did not convey what I meant. I wrote it in a hurry :-)

I understand the saying ‘Only fools are in a hurry’ to mean a certain kind of haste. A haste that stems from a kind of inner restlessness, a state in which it is easy to make mistakes. It is a state that I want to avoid. And this saying reminds me of that. Unless I am in a hurry :-)

Yes, when I'm lazy or in a hurry, the thought comes to mind that only fools do this, but fools know something, something important and valuable, and sometimes I want to know that :)

That's it :-) I love your comments!

By the way: The Fool

Maybe what its about is making mistakes for not taking the time to think before acting
