Kasturi Walk at the Central Market Kuala Lumpur

This is Kasturi Walk which is located alongside the main building of the Central Market Kuala Lumpur. The place is a transformed covered walkway that was opened in 2011. Kasturi Walk features a variety of stalls selling artworks made into souvenirs by local artists.

This giant kite is very much a tradition and culture of the Malays. In Malay, we called this giant kite 'Wau Bulan. Wau Bulan is designed in the crescent moon-like shape of its lower section (Moon means "Bulan" in Malay). So that's how Wau Bulan got its name from. Wau Bulan normally comes with floral motifs. It is a culture that can be seen mostly in the Malaysian state of Kelantan. It is one of Malaysia's national symbols. Wau Bulan is honored on the reverse side of the fifty-cent coin of Malaysia and you can also see the logo of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is based on the Malaysian kite.

In the olden days of the Malays, a bullock cart was used as a transportation and logistic method.

Central Market Kuala Lumpur is located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, a few minutes away from Petaling Street. It was founded in 1888 and originally used as a wet market. It has been classified as a Heritage Site by the Malaysian Heritage Society and it is now a landmark in Kuala Lumpur for Malaysian culture and heritage and a tourist attraction place.
Central Market houses a variety of eclectic art galleries, is one of the major art spaces in Kuala Lumpur. This place is famous as a hub of activity all year long which features artworks by local artists.
