Today I would like to share some information about Sri Lankan Pre-historic men.
Sri Lanka has a great written history about 2500 years. But in 1988-1987 ,some Archaeological digging that done at Fa Hien Cave which is placed inside"Pahiyangala Temple" found a great finding. It's historical evidence of oldest prehistoric settlement of Pre-historic man "Balangoda Man" [ Homo sapiens balangodensis] Source
Entrance of the Fa Hien Cave | Plus code: J6W8+V7 Gavaragiriya This Fa Hien cave is situated in Kaluthara, Western Province , Sri Lanka. The first excavation campaign has don in1968, but in the second excavation campaign whic has done in 1988 found a lot of "Microlith stone tolls" & remnants of pre-historic fire place. After done carbon test to these findings ,they have marked the age of 33,000 years. Within the fossils that found, there were bones of adults and three children too.
Entrance of the Fa Hien Cave This cave was found by chinese monk who came to live in "Pahiyangala Temple" around 1940. To honour him, this cave was named after him "Fa Hien Cave."

Some Archaeological findings of Pre-Historic man " Balangoda Man (Homo sapiens balangodensis) refers to hominins from Sri Lanka's late Quaternary period The term was initially coined to refer to anatomically modern Homo sapiens from sites near Balangoda that were responsible for the island's Mesolithic 'Balangoda Culture'. The earliest evidence of Balangoda Man from archaeological sequences at caves and other sites dates back to 38,000 BP, and from excavated skeletal remains to 30,000 BP, which is also the earliest reliably dated record of anatomically modern humans in South Asia.Cultural remains discovered alongside the skeletal fragments include geometric microliths dating to 28,500 BP, which together with some sites in Africa is the earliest record of such stone tools." Inside of the Cave Up to now they are still doing research on these finding (But bit slower).Hope our Archaeologists may find further information and discover the secrets that hidden in soil.
