Bangladesh defeated Nepal to enter the Super Eight of the ongoing T20 World Cup and at the same time secured the ticket for the 2026 World Cup. Before Shanto and his team, 8 other teams got tickets for the next season.

The ninth T20 World Cup is being held jointly by the West Indies and the United States. The competition is still some time away, but discussions have begun on the World Cup two years from now.

ICC has already planned the next World Cup. 20 teams will participate in this tournament in Sri Lanka and India. The 8 teams that make it to the Super Eight of this year's Twenty20 World Cup will get a chance to play in the next World Cup directly.

Afghanistan, Australia, India, England, South Africa, the United States, and the West Indies have already qualified for the Super Eight in the current tournament. India has got the opportunity as the host. Sri Lanka will play as a co-host even if the Super Eight is not confirmed.

On Monday, June 17, Bangladesh secured Super Eight by beating Nepal by 21 runs. As a result, 9 teams have secured tickets for the next World Cup. Three more teams will make it to the list by June 30.

Of the three possible teams, New Zealand and Pakistan are pretty certain. Despite being eliminated from the group stage of the current World Cup, their position in the ranking is sixth and seventh respectively. The other likely team is 11th-placed Ireland.

The remaining 8 teams will be confirmed through qualifiers. Two teams each from Europe, Asia, and Africa and one each from East Asia-Pacific and the Americas will get a chance.
