Juventus and Udinese** are the two teams set to close out the fifteenth day of Serie A with their clash at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Sunday 3 January at 8.45pm. The hosts are coming back from the heavy defeat at the hands of Fiorentina, which made the Italian champions slip to the sixth place in the standings, but also the guests are not doing so well, if we consider that the Friulian team has been able to collect only two points in the last three days, against not irresistible opponents such as Cagliari, Crotone and Benevento.
Winning is therefore imperative for both teams, in order not to lose sight of their respective objectives for the season: looking at the forty-six previous championship matches played in Turin, Juventus seem to have a clear advantage, with 35 wins, seven defeats and four draws.
Udinese's last win came on the first day of the 2015/2016 season, when a goal from Thereau just over ten minutes from the end, saw them beat the reigning Italian champions, while last year Juventus won 3-1 thanks to a double from Cristiano Ronaldo and a goal from Bonucci.

Juventus v Udinese 3-2 (21 April 1984)
With four days to go before the end of the season, Juventus receive at home the Udinese of the Brazilian star Zico, who has just moved to Italy after a long career at Flamengo; the hosts can count on a three-point lead over the Italian champions of Roma, engaged that Sunday in Avellino, and winning this match could represent a fundamental step towards the conquest of the 21st Scudetto.
The Old Lady got off to a great start and scored the goal of the momentary lead on the quarter hour thanks to Paolo Rossi, but had to suffer the reaction of the opponents, who towards the end of the half, in a minute, overturned the result with goals from Mauro and Zico.
Roma** were winning 2-0 in Avellino and the chill descended on the Comunale despite a pleasant spring day, but it was melted by Beniamino Vignola, the talented reserve player, who came on in place of an out-of-shape Boniek at the start of the second half and put a smile on the faces of the Juventus fans with a brace.
The Capitolini were put back and finished their match 2-2, and for Juventus the last month of competitions could begin, ending with the victory in the championship and the conquest of the Uefa Cup.
Udinese's most exciting victory

On the fourth day of the 2000/2001 championship, the surprising Udinese, coached by Gigi De Canio, arrived in Turin, with the intention of prolonging the magical period that had brought them to collect seven points in the first three days of the championship, thanks to the brilliant home successes against Inter and Brescia and the draw in Verona.
On the other hand Juventus, still disappointed by the afternoon of Perugia, in which the Bianconeri were incredibly ordered to play on an impracticable ground with the relative loss of a Scudetto that seemed to be already in the bag, finds itself paired with the Friulians in second place in the table, behind only Roma, the only team with a full score.
Juve started better, but a mistake by Zanchi, a former Udinese player, opened the way for Sosa to take the lead. The same Argentine striker doubled in the second half, finishing a deadly counter-attack and the goal scored by Del Piero on a penalty kick, twelve minutes from the end, was not enough to cancel the afternoon of glory of the Friulians, unexpectedly leading the Serie A, together with Atalanta, at the end of the match.
In spite of the excellent start, the Udinese managed to save themselves only on the penultimate day, while Juventus ended the championship in second place, behind Roma.
Juventus' biggest victory
Juventus v Udinese 5-1 (8 November 1992)
In the year of the thirteenth Scudetto won by Milan, Juventus and Udinese are opponents in Turin on the ninth day. The hosts are in fourth place, already five points behind Milan, and need to win to avoid losing ground to the leaders.
Udinese held up well until midway through the first half, when Roberto Baggio went on the rampage, scoring in the 21st, 23rd and 42nd minutes, as well as an own goal to make it 4-1. In the second half, the future Ballon d'Or winner set the score in the final minutes, scoring for the first time in his career four goals in a single match. Juventus ended the championship in fourth place, but their season was enriched by the victory of the Uefa Cup, while Udinese were saved by a miracle thanks to the direct match classification, which condemned Brescia and Fiorentina to relegation.
Udinese's biggest victory
Juventus v Udinese 0-3 (20 April 1997)
European champions Juventus face Udinese on the tenth day of the return leg, amidst a Champions League semi-final clash with Ajax that could lead to their second final in two years.
The Bianconeri of Marcello Lippi lead the Serie A standings with six points ahead of Parma, and they faced the match obviously drained of mental energy: the Udinese took the lead at the end of the first half thanks to a penalty kick converted by Amoroso, and went ahead 0-3 after only four minutes of the second half thanks to goals by Bierhoff and again by Amoroso.
The two penalties missed by Vieri and Zidane do not change the score; the Vecchia Signora will be crowned champions of Italy once again, but will have to face the great disappointment of defeat in the final of the Champions League, at the hands of Borussia Dortmund, while the year of the Friulians was more than positive, finishing in fifth place and qualifying for the Uefa Cup.

Juventus e Udinese sono le due squadre designate a chiudere la quindicesima giornata di Serie A, con il loro scontro diretto che si giocherà all'Allianz Stadium di Torino domenica 3 Gennaio alle 20.45. I padroni di casa sono reduci dalla pesante sconfitta interna patita per mano della Fiorentina, che ha fatto scivolare i campioni d'Italia al sesto posto in classifica, ma anche gli ospiti non se la passano benissimo, se consideriamo che la squadra friulana è stata capace di raccogliere solo due punti nelle ultime tre giornate, contro avversarie non irresistibili come Cagliari, Crotone e Benevento.
Vincere pertanto diventa l'imperativo di entrambe le formazioni, per non perdere di vista i rispettivi obiettivi stagionali: dando un'occhiata alle quarantasei precedenti sfide di campionato disputate a Torino, la Juventus sembra partire nettamente in vantaggio, potendo contare su 35 vittorie, a fronte di sette sconfitte e quattro pareggi.
L'ultima affermazione dell'Udinese risale alla prima giornata del campionato 2015/2016, giocata ad agosto, quando con un goal di Thereau a poco più di dieci minuti dalla fine, gli ospiti riuscirono a sbancare lo stadio dei campioni d'Italia in carica, mentre l'anno scorso i piemontesi si sono imposti per 3-1, grazie alla doppietta di Cristiano Ronaldo e al goal di Bonucci.

A quattro giornate dal termine la Juventus riceve in casa l'Udinese del fuoriclasse brasiliano Zico, appena trasferitosi in Italia dopo una lunga carriera al Flamengo; i padroni di casa possono contare su tre punti di vantaggio sui campioni d'Italia della Roma, impegnati quella domenica ad Avellino, e vincere questa partita potrebbe rappresentare un passo fondamentale verso la conquista del ventunesimo scudetto.
La Vecchia Signora parte alla grande e trova il goal del vantaggio al quarto d'ora grazie a Paolo Rossi, ma deve subire la reazione degli avversari, che verso lo scadere del tempo, in un minuto, ribaltano il risultato con le reti di Mauro e Zico.
La Roma sta vincendo 2-0 ad Avellino e il gelo sul Comunale scende nonostante una piacevole giornata primaverile; tuttavia a scioglierlo ci penserà Beniamino Vignola, talentuosa riserva di lusso, che entrato in campo al posto di uno spento Boniek ad inizio ripresa, con la sua doppietta restituisce il sorriso ai tifosi juventini.
I capitolini vengono rimontati e terminano 2-2 la loro gara, e per Madama può cominciare l'ultimo mese di competizioni, che terminerà con la vittoria in campionato e la conquista della Coppa Uefa.
La più bella vittoria dell'Udinese

Alla quarta giornata del campionato 2000/2001, la sorprendente Udinese, allenata da Gigi De Canio, arriva a Torino, con l'intenzione di prolungare il periodo magico che l'ha portata a raccogliere sette punti nelle prime tre giornate di campionato, grazie ai brillanti successi casalinghi ottenuti su Inter e Brescia e al pareggio di Verona.
Dal canto suo la Juventus, ancora scottata dalla delusione derivante dal pomeriggio di Perugia, nel quale ai bianconeri venne incredibilmente ordinato di giocare su un terreno impraticabile con relativa perdita di uno scudetto sembrato già in cassaforte, si trova appaiata ai friulani al secondo posto in classifica, dietro solo alla Roma, unica squadra a punteggio pieno.
La Juve parte meglio, ma un errore di Zanchi, ex giocatore proprio dell'Udinese, apre la strada a Sosa, per il vantaggio degli ospiti. Lo stesso attaccante argentino raddoppia nella ripresa, finalizzando un contropiede micidiale e la rete messa a segno da Del Piero su calcio di rigore, a dodici minuti dalla fine, non basta ad annullare il pomeriggio di gloria dei friulani, inaspettatamente in testa alla Serie A, in compagnia dell'Atalanta, al termine della gara.
Nonostante l'ottimo avvio, l'Udinese riuscirà a salvarsi solo alla penultima giornata, mentre la Juventus chiuderà il campionato al secondo posto, alle spalle della Roma.
La vittoria più larga della Juventus
Juventus-Udinese 5-1 (8 novembre 1992)
Nell'anno del tredicesimo scudetto vinto dal Milan, Juventus e Udinese si ritrovano avversarie a Torino alla nona giornata. I padroni di casa si trovano al quarto posto, già staccati di cinque punti dal Milan, ed hanno assoluta necessità di vincere per non perdere ulteriore terreno dalle prime della classe.
L'Udinese regge bene fino a metà del primo tempo, quando si scatena Roberto Baggio, che va a segno al 21', al 23' e al 42', provocando anche l'autorete che fissa il risultato della prima metà gara sul 4-1. Nella ripresa ancora il futuro Pallone d'Oro fissa il risultato negli ultimi minuti, segnando per la prima volta in carriera quattro reti in una sola partita. La Juventus chiuderà quel campionato al quarto posto, ma la sua stagione sarà impreziosita dalla vittoria della Coppa Uefa, mentre per l'Udinese arriverà una miracolosa salvezza grazie alla classifica avulsa, che condannerà alla retrocessione Brescia e Fiorentina.
La vittoria più larga dell'Udinese

La Juventus campione d'Europa affronta l'Udinese alla decima giornata di ritorno, in mezzo all'impegno in semifinale di Champions League con l'Ajax che potrebbe condurla a disputare la sua seconda finale in due anni.
I bianconeri di Marcello Lippi conducono la classifica della Serie A con sei punti di vantaggio sul Parma e affrontano la gara evidentemente scarichi di energie mentali: l'Udinese passa in vantaggio alla fine del primo tempo grazie ad un calcio di rigore trasformato da Amoroso, e si porta sullo 0-3 dopo soli quattro minuti della ripresa grazie ai goal di Bierhoff e ancora di Amoroso.
Che la Juve abbia la testa da un'altra parte lo dimostrano i due rigori falliti, da Vieri e Zidane, che non cambiano il punteggio; la Vecchia Signora si laureerà ancora una volta campione d'Italia, ma dovrà affrontare la grande delusione della sconfitta in finale di Champions League, per mano del Borussia Dortmund, mentre più che positiva l'annata dei friulani, che chiuderanno al quinto posto qualificandosi per la Coppa Uefa.
