By a twist of fate, once again Claudio Ranieri is sitting on the wrong bench, given that the Roman coach was chosen to lead Juventus, in the year of his return to Serie A. With eleven days to go, the clash between Juventus and Fiorentina, respectively third and fourth in the standings, serve to ensure valuable points for qualifying for the Champions League the following year, and the bianconeri arrive with four points ahead of their rivals.
The Viola play better in the first half and take the lead with Gobbi, but just as the collapse seems close, Ranieri's team manages to equalize with a bycicle kick from Sissoko. The goal gives confidence to the hosts, who in the second half overturn the result with a great right-footed shot by 2006 world champion Mauro Camoranesi.
The game seems to become easy for the Piedmontese, but the Viola do not give up and find a draw, a quarter of an hour from the end, thanks to a raid by Papa Waigo, who entered the field less than ten minutes ago.

On an afternoon at the end of winter, Fiorentina faces one of the most humiliating defeats in its history at the Comunale of Turin, being buried with goals by the hosts and thus having to say goodbye prematurely to dreams of comeback in the standings.

Those are not easy years for Juventus, which after the Scudetto won in 1952, and the two second places in the following years behind Inter, restart with a new project, following the disappointing seventh place in the previous championship. The start of the tournament is thrilling for the Old Lady, who on the third day, with only two points collected in the first two games, hosts Fiorentina, destined to become Italian champions at the end of the season.
Although the Bianconeri are the first real chance of the match, the Tuscans don't take long to impose their law on the unfortunate opponents, taking full control of the game and scoring twice in the first eighteen minutes.
In the second half, Juventus' reaction is impalpable and, on the counterattack, Fiorentina manages to reach 0-3, further rounding the score on the final after having well controlled the sterile opponent attacks.
At the end of the season, Fiorentina will celebrate their first historic Scudetto, while the Old Lady will still have to face a disappointing placement, with the final ninth place, only seven points above the relegation zone.

questa sera Juventus e Fiorentina si affronteranno all'Allianz Stadium di Torino per la seconda partita della quattordicesima giornata di Serie A. I bianconeri arrivano all'incontro con i favori del pronostico e con il vento in poppa, in seguito alla brillante vittoria ottenuta sul campo del Parma, mentre i toscani stanno attraversando una delle stagioni più difficili della loro storia recente, soprattutto dopo il cambio in panchina, voluto dal presidente Rocco Commisso, che ha riportato a capo della squadra l'ex Commissario Tecnico della nazionale Cesare Prandelli.
La sfida tra le due squadre però spesso non è stata scontata in passato, in quanto figlia di una rivalità molto accesa (soprattutto dalla parte Fiorentina) risalente all'inizio degli anni '80, quando le due sfidanti di questa sera duellarono fino all'ultima giornata per la conquista dello scudetto, vinto dalla Juventus grazie, secondo la tesi dei supporters gigliati, ad alcune discutibili decisioni arbitrali.
Nel decennio successivo ci pensò poi il trasferimento in bianconero di Roberto Baggio, figlio prediletto di Firenze, a rinnovare i dissapori tra i due ambienti; l'ex pallone d'oro non ha mai nascosto il suo amore per la città di Dante e Leonardo da Vinci, dichiarando con ogni mezzo di voler rimanere alla Fiorentina, nonostante l'accordo raggiunto tra le due società: nella prima partita giocata a Firenze con indosso la maglia della Juventus, Baggio si rifiutò di tirare un calcio di rigore contro la sua ex squadra, acuendo le polemiche dell'epoca, trascinate fino ai giorni nostri con i recenti trasferimenti in bianconero degli ex viola, Bernardeschi e Federico Chiesa.

Alla dodicesima giornata del campionato di Serie A 1994/95, la nuova Juventus, affidata alle cure di Marcello Lippi, riceve allo Stadio Delle Alpi la rivelazione della prima parte del campionato, la Fiorentina, allenata dal non ancora soprannominato Thinkerman, "King Claudio" Ranieri.
La sensazione che ci si trovi di fronte ad un primo importante snodo del campionato richiama nell'impianto torinese il pubblico delle grandi occasioni: le due squadre, rispettivamente seconda e terza in classifica alle spalle del Parma, sono quelle che più hanno impressionato nei primi mesi di campionato per la qualità del gioco, e la critica giornalistica è unanime nell'attendersi una grande partita.
I viola partono meglio, contenendo le prime sfuriate bianconere, e colpiscono due volte, prima con Baiano, abile a deviare in fondo alla rete una palla vagante, poi con Colombo, che indovina uno spettacolare destro dal limte dell'area. Nel secondo tempo però, avviene il riscatto bianconero, in quella che diverrà la partita simbolo della conquista del ventitreesimo scudetto: i padroni di casa attaccano a testa bassa, ma riescono a realizzare la rete dell'1-2 solo a poco più di un quarto d'ora dalla fine, quando Gianluca Vialli spedisce alle spalle di Toldo un preciso cross proveniente da sinistra.
Il centravanti della Vecchia Signora raccoglie il pallone con rabbia per portarlo a centrocampo il prima possibile, e la sua grinta trascina i compagni verso l'impresa: tre minuti dopo, in seguito ad una mischia in area, ancora Vialli trova il guizzo che pareggia la gara, e mentre ci si avvia verso finale che sembrava improbabile, a tre minuti dalla fine, Alex Del Piero devia al volo in porta un lancio di Paulo Sosa proveniente dalla metà campo, facendo esplodere di gioia i sessantamila tifosi juventini sugli spalti.
La Juve, a fine anno si laureerà campione d'Italia, vincendo anche la Coppa Italia, mentre la Fiorentina terminerà, dopo un pessimo girone di ritorno, al decimo posto.
La vittoria più bella della Fiorentina

Per uno scherzo del destino, anche questa volta Claudio Ranieri è seduto sulla panchina sbagliata, dato che l'allenatore romano è stato prescelto per guidare la Juventus, nell'anno del suo ritorno in Serie A. Ad undici giornate dal termine lo scontro tra Juventus e Fiorentina, rispettivamente terza e quarta in classifica, serve ad assicurare punti preziosi per la qualificazione alla Champions League dell'anno successivo, ed i bianconeri ci arrivano con quattro punti di vantaggio sui rivali.
I viola giocano meglio il primo tempo e si portano in vantaggio con Gobbi, ma proprio mentre il tracollo sembra vicino, la squadra di Ranieri riesce a pareggiare con un goal in rovesciata di Sissoko. Il goal da fiducia ai padroni di casa, che nella ripresa ribaltano il risultato con un gran destro al volo del campione del mondo 2006, Mauro Camoranesi.
La partita sembra in discesa per i piemontesi, ma i viola non demordono e trovano il pareggio ad un quarto d'ora dal termine grazie ad un'incursione di Papa Waigo, entrato in campo da meno di dieci minuti.
L'ultimo quarto d'ora è frizzante, con occasioni ripetute da una parte e dall'altra, ma sono gli ospiti che la spuntano in pieno recupero, grazie ad un colpo di testa di Osvaldo, che dopo il goal corre sotto lo spicchio di stadio riservato ai tifosi della Fiorentina per imitare l'esultanza del mitra, già vista fare da Batistuta.
Juventus e Fiorentina conserveranno le loro posizioni fino a fine campionato, chiudendo terza e quarta e qualificandosi entrambe per la Champions League.
La vittoria più larga della Juventus
Juventus-Fiorentina 8-0 (22 febbraio 1953)
In un pomeriggio di fine inverno, la Fiorentina va incontro, al Comunale di Torino, ad una delle sconfitte più umilianti della sua storia, venendo sepolta di reti dai padroni di casa e dovendo così dire addio prematuramente ai sogni di rimonta in classifica.
La Juventus mette in chiaro le cose fin dal primo minuto, grazie alla rete di Boniperti, e nell'azione del goal si infortuna anche il difensore viola Cervato, che resta in campo per tutto il primo tempo, non riuscendo però a rientrare nella ripresa; i viola, in dieci uomini (all'epoca non erano previste le sostituzioni) e sotto di due reti dopo 45 minuti, crollano definitivamente nel secondo tempo, anche a causa di un secondo infortunio, che toglie dal campo Venturi, permettendo alla Juventus di dilagare.
Questa partita, per molti, fu il vero inizio della rivalità tra Juventus e Fiorentina, con i tifosi toscani che accusarono i bianconeri di poca sportività per essersi accaniti contro un avversario menomato.
La vittoria più larga della Fiorentina

Non sono anni facili per la Juventus, che dopo lo scudetto del 1952, e i due secondi posti negli anni seguenti alle spalle dell'Inter, riparte con un nuovo progetto, in seguito al deludente settimo posto del campionato precedente. L'avvio di stagione è da brividi per la Vecchia Signora, che alla terza giornata, con soli due punti raccimolati nelle prime due partite, ospita la Fiorentina, destinata a diventare campione d'Italia al termine della stagione.
Nonostante sia dei bianconeri la prima vera occasione della partita, i toscani non ci mettono molto ad imporre la propria legge ai malcapitati avversari, prendendo il pieno controllo della partita ed andando in rete due volte nei primi diciotto minuti.
Nella ripresa la reazione della Juventus è impalpabile e, in contropiede, gli ospiti riescono a portarsi sullo 0-3, arrotondando ulteriormente il punteggio sul finale dopo aver ben controllato gli sterili attacchi avversari.
A fine stagione la Fiorentina celebrerà il suo primo storico scudetto, mentre la Vecchia Signora dovrà affrontare ancora un piazzamento deludente, con il nono posto finale, solo sette punti sopra la zona retrocessione.
