The term a virtual currency is a familiar term in the online world. A virtual currency is a type of currency originally designed to have a digital representation. It is a type of currency that is only available electronically. This type of currency usually works electronically. Therefore, to transact the currencies of this group, different software or mobile applications are required through which these currencies can be stored and transacted.

Of course, such software and applications are designated software and mobile or computer specific applications. Since it is stored and transacted through designated software and specific mobile or computer applications, it is online-based and transactions of such virtual currencies are done through dedicated networks or the Internet. But this concept is not new anymore but they are uncontrolled. Usually such virtual currencies are not regulated by any country's financial institution or government. Usually they are issued by individual teams or groups of developers.

Virtual currency is basically a digital version of digital currency and such currency is a subset of digital currency. We are currently more familiar with cryptocurrencies as digital currencies. Associated with these digital currencies are the names of tokens, coins, etc., which are issued by individuals or by a specific company.

Virtual currency is also a set of digital currencies that are issued by individuals or companies. Virtual currencies can allow for faster transaction speeds, ease of use, and wider access. But we know that everything online and internet-based remains at risk. These coins are no exception. Virtual currencies being online based can be hacked through the software used to access these currencies. Moreover, since these currencies are not yet regulated, they can be easily attacked. Users usually have no legal recourse for these currencies if they are attacked. Because it is not controlled by any country's government or financial institution.

Virtual currency emerged in 2012. This type of currency became known to everyone when the European Central Bank (ECB) defined it as a type of digital money in an unregulated environment. It was originally issued by the developers. And also it is regulated and used as a payment method among the members of a particular virtual community. Crypto-assets are digital representations of value or rights that have the potential to bring significant benefits to market participants, including retail holders of crypto-assets. Since virtual currencies represent value. They therefore fall under MiCA jurisdiction in the EU. It also taxes businesses related to certain types of virtual currency, such as cryptocurrencies. However, virtual currencies are usually unregulated and are issued by individuals or organizations and are traded and stored online.
